What a load of crap. When they write about the Kordic for Courtnall trade, they say that John Broophy was the inspiration for the Ogie Ogilthorpe character. That can't be further from the truth. The inspiration for the character was Bil Goldthorpe from Thunder Bay via Hornepayne Ontario. In fact Goldy was supposed to be in the movie but was cut out due to being a legit bad ass that the hollywood people didn't want to deal with afterwards. He didn't receive any credit for it.

I wish Courtnall still played.

people put far too much into hindsight in the draft. for all we know Ovechkin could be a bust and David Bolland could become the most dominant player out of the draft.

Muller leaves Montreal

In Montreal, the trade that sent Kirk Muller to the Islanders for Turgeon was very sad. Muller was as proud to be the team's captain as anyone could have asked from him, so much so that he had started talking french classes to learn the language.

In the dressing room area, back in the old Forum, it was an old tradition that the team's captain had his picture up on the wall. When Muller saw his taken down, he cried because he was so hurt.

This trade was really a heartbreaker, even more so since the day prior, GM Serge Savard guaranteed Muller than he wasn't going to be traded.

Yeah, I was surprised to see the Regehr for soon-to-be-UFA Fleury and Iginla for soon-to-be-UFA Nieuwendyk listed as bad trades for the Flames.

It wasn't "bad" trades. It was "heartbreaking" trades, and the Nieuwendyk deal in particular is an example of that.

My heart broke the day that the Canucks traded Babych to the Flyers.

But the Nedved for Kovalev/Zubov deal was a steal from day one, that's what I don't get.

Even if Kovalev flopped Zubov was one of the best offensive defenseman in the game...

Now trading Zubov for Hatcher...that was a heart breaker.

Yeah, I agree with you here. I think the Nedved deal was a heartbreaker in that if they did it before the playoff run that year he held out, they might have won the Cup.
