Outclassed GDT - Detroit 3/21/04

Yeah. They kill us in every category. 5 good minutes REALLY won't be enogh to win this one. 60 good minutes probably wouldn't be. It all depends really on how badly Detroit toys with us.

If they're not paying attention, and Cujo starts letting in goals over his shoulder again, and Shanahan starts socking himself repeatedly in the nuts on the bench, then we'll win.

I hope this is more like game 3 of last year's playoffs than the first nightmare of a game we had against them this season.

Hopefully Feds can burn his former team in his house, and Chistov can extend his goal-scoring streak to a season high two games. Also, did Ozo play against the Sharks? If not, hopefully he comes back tonight and does well.

Ozo did play against the Sharks (-1 with 1 shot)
Lance Ward sat as a result of this (1st time in 21 games)

What's going on with Schastlivy? He's been a healthy scratch for the past 3 games...Chistov apparently has taken his spot.
Burnett and Severson seem to be playing well lately....

Burnett didn't play after the Parker fight...Probably time for a healthy scratch for him considering Detroit doesn't fight...

I read about this Thomas Pock guy who's college season has ended and apparentley a FA. He's an offensive defenseman, which is the Ducks' #1 need, so maybe BM should sign him. Anybody have any extra info on the kid?

The Ducks' #1 need is a defensive defenseman IMO.

Burnett and Severson have both earned their ice time lately. I think the reason Burnett didn't play after the fight is because he was hurt - there was blood on the ice, anyway, and he never went to the box.
Ozolinsh looked average against the Sharks, which was better than our other defenseman.

The Ducks tend to play well against the good teams. Look for the Ducks to be in the game till the end, with Detroit scoring a late goal to win it. Wait is that a prediction!

Yeah, Burnett got his arse handed to him by Parker. And I agree about the defensive defenseman. The Ducks have, in terms of puck moving defensemen, Ozolinsh, Havelid and Skoula. Nothing to get too excited about, but good enough for now.

Prospect-wise I meant. The lone offensive-defenseman in our prospect pool is Popovic. The rest(quite a bit) are stay-at-home guys.

That was quick. Datsyuk scores 3 minutes in, then Hull gets a PPG. It was a pretty weak call on God, though.

Yes but the first period is over. Will they play more than the ~7 minutes they've played so far? They're already over their quota.

Can anybody tell me the score on this game?

Internet says Detroit won 3-2, but it doesn't look that way...

The first Fedorov goal looked like something off NHL 2004(the Niedermayer stickhandling show, that is).

8-6 final. The 8 Duck goals and 14 total goals are both club records, as are I believe the 57 shots for Detroit in a regular season game. And Jiggy's 51 saves, too.

Un freakin believable. Fun to watch, but man our defense sucks.

EN by Rooch to cap of an 8-6 win. Good job Ducks.

BTW, just when we see that we're gonna have a goaltending controversy, with Jiggy, Gerber, and Bryz, Ozo decides to try out as goalie. He actually didn't do too bad for having no goalie equipment on.
