I notice that the Road Kill Cafe has removed its Canadian Specialty Burger:

The first time I went there, and my buddy (who was familiar with the joint) ordered a dozen cheeseburgers, I almost 5hit myself.

How about one of these from Mallie's Sports Bar and Grill in Southgate, Michigan??

Then in May 2009 they upped the record - 184 lbs. Oh yeah and if you are interested:

Mallie's Guinness World Record Absolutely Ridiculous Burger is Available for Delivery. For only $2000 USD plus shipping and handling, you can order history and have it shipped right to your doorstep. Call for details.

I just went to Urban Burger on Davie for the first time. It was pretty darned good. In the fast food/made to order category I've been to Vera's & Fatburger. I would rate Urban Burger the best. And if it matters to you, the burger was huge - maybe 6 & 1/2 inches in diameter. Honestly, it was a bit much but it was "a tasty burger" (in the voice of Jules from Pulp Fiction).

Sunset Burgers in Yaletown is pretty darn good. (550 Nelson Street) They make California-style hamburgers. (ie hamburgers made simple. Not a 3 lb burger) The decor looks like you're at 'The Max' from Saved By the Bell. Not a huge bang for your buck. But definitely worth trying.

Romer's Burgers in Kits is quite the opposite. They have a killer assortment of DELUXE burgers. Seriously check out the menu:

The Oakwood On West 4th near Mcdonald (across from the Naam).

Everything at the restaurant down to the buns is made in house. The meat is also butchered in house so you can cook your burger to order (this is one of the few places in Vancouver I have seen that do this). I have been there a bunch of times and everything on the menu is amazing, but the burger stands out. That, and the smoked meat poutine (meat also smoked in house), is also terrific.

Its also open late and a good option for UBC students like myself who are on campus late.

I can also vouch for Romers burger. Its high quality. I love the menu.

I have been wanting to try Sunset Burger, and Stackhouse for a while now which I have heard good things about.

A friend has good things to say about The Burger at the newly renovated Save-On Meats. He also highly recommends the "Damn Fine Ruben".

Featured on the new TV show Gastown Gamble.

For six bucks it is hard to go wrong.

My vote goes to Moderne Burger on Broadway. http://www.moderneburger.com/

There's a new place opening up on 8th and Cambie on the 23rd that looks good too. http://maxsburgers.ca/

I have to agree on Romers. Go there and get the mans man burger. Pricey but I can honestly say it's the best burger I've ever had.

I vouch for Romer's Burgers as well. Meat is ground on premise but because of city by-laws, they can't make is rare (at least that's what the manager told me last time I was there).

Didn't Max's Burger use to be Max's Bakery?

If you like Romers, I highly recommend the Oakwood. Its probably the best burger I have had in Vancouver. Its a little pricy as well, but its HUGE and well worth it.

I thought Romer's was extremely average - nothing that would have me say it's one of the best in Vancouver.

Chilliwack just got a Five Guys Burgers and Fries. Expensive and worth it.

Take the kids out for a $1.39 McDouble then sneak out later and get a real burger.
