Kassian ?

I just want to know if Zack Kassian is a Turner Stevenson or MIlan Lucic or Brendan Morrow?

moreau's draft year was the year after he put up those statistics according to hockeydb.

Moreau's 93-94 stats in the OHL

He needs to greatly improve his skating or he has Brad Isbister written all over him.

IMO hes very overrated at this point. Id rather have Chris Brown who you could prolly draft near the middle of the second round.

Your right, my bad. I still see them being comparable, Moreau had more points and less PIM's. But it took him time as an pro to realize he wasnt going to be a big scorer in the NHL.

Turner Stevenson/Mike Rupp etc.

He needs to seriously inprove his footspped if he wants to be an impact player in the NHL. His play actually reminds me of Andre Roy the most.

70% Jason Weimer 30% Lucic

High bust potential due to his lack of skating/hands

He is a headcase.

He play similarly to Lucic but his skating needs to improve. He's probably the biggest **** disturber in this draft.

I want my team to completely stay away from him.

There's nothing worse than a PF who 'takes nights off' and is 'inconsistent in his effort'

Not to mention worrying footspeed and questionable hockey sense.

I'd rather have Carter Ashton or Chris Krieder as a power forward prospect.

Really like Kassian. I think he has some big time skill down low. Im usually a guy who brushes off the "power forward" billing that I feel to many guys who are big with no skill get labeled but this guy has skill to hold guys off and maneuver the puck efficiently with one hand on his stick or digging in the corners. This guy is way better than Beach if you ask me to compare the too. When I say better though I mean that he'll contribute more than Beach as a hockey player. Kassian can play, Beach cant. All Beach has is a big time shot.

Many people like the kind of player he is, but that can lead you astray. Skating issues and questionable hockey sense are both major red flags as far as I'm concerned, no matter what other qualities he has.

In the copycat community that the NHL is, everybody seems to be thinking "Milan Lucic!", as if his emergence proved that it's now a sound proposition to draft players with similar characteristics. But there's one Milan Lucic, and how many big, tough guys who couldn't skate have been busts?

cheers

I saw him at U-18's. I like him. He's pretty good. Nice wherwithal down low, as another poster mentioned. Hard to knock off the puck.

He didn't look like a headcase. He looked actually pretty collected out there when Canada was experiencing times of stress.

And his skating for a guy his size isn't nearly the problem many on here say it is.

He's not a headcase, nor is his skating atrocious. However, he doesn't have as much skill as Beach - nor does he have the skill to be a top 6 forward in the NHL, in my opinion. Overrated by many because of the PF factor.

Is there/who are the better Power Forward prospects in this draft? Are any of them close to being NHL ready?

I've had an argument or two with a Kassian supporter this year. Personally, he's not my kind of prospect. His skating isn't terrible, but I have never seen him show much ability to create off the rush at all. In fact I find he shows little offensive potential outside of down low and in front of the net. Now, that is to an extent the area where a power forward defines themself, but what separates a guy like Morrow or Bertuzzi in his prime from a third line power forward who can chip in some goals and cause havoc in front of the net. I can see why some people are intrigued by the possibility of turning a guy like Kassian in to a very effective player like David Backes, but those players are hard to develop. Personally, I'm just not sold, and wouldn't use a pick on him until the final third of the first round.
