Has anyone else enjoyed Russia-USA more than Pens-Capitals?

You have to take into account a couple of thing: at this stage of the SC playoffs, there's little difference in quality between two teams, making thing very close and highlight reel type goals hard to come by. Also, the US team at this year's Worlds in ver young and inexperienced, so naturally they had trouble on the PK. Not to mention that they really lack a star/veteran player in their squad.

The skating and passing clinic Russia put on yesterday (especially in 1st period) was an absolute treat to watch. Technically faaaar better than anything seen in the Cup playoffs. Bob's comparing style of hockey......which he has a legitimate point making.

If you like Cup playoffs better - fine.

Each person to his own.
Of course. I'm just sick of some posters here calling the NHL a beer hockey league compared to the Russian league.

I gotta say while i liked the Pit vs Was game. The skill level, quality of hockey and excitement in the Russia/USA game was far superior. The game was faster, more technical, more chippy, and aesthetically amazing. With out Varlamov's save and Semin's fake shot goal the Cap vs Pit game would be boring. Im sorry but it was just a sub par product to the world champs game.

I enjoyed almost every WHC game more than Caps-Pens since I can't care less who wins there

Better lineups in Rus-USA than in PIT-WAS.

Lol. And what I did in reality was just saying that one game at the World Championship (why don't I see words 'Russian' and 'league' here, by the way?) was far more entertaining than an NHL Stanley Cup game featuring 3 best players in the world.

Nothing wrong with comparing one hockey game to another...

IMO I thought the Caps/Pens game was better but then again the U.S. was frustrating me..

And yet, the Carolina-New Jersey series was probably more enjoyable than any World Championship game I've ever seen.

And that was a Round 1 match-up, and I didn't even have anything invested in either team.

BS. Didn't even come close to last year's final.

LOL.

Hardly.

Though if you're a Russian fan for the last decade or more, I can see your position.

Two last second defeats snatched from the claws of victory? Brodeur slamming his stick against the boards?

Amazing.

Last year's final was your typical team in the lead takes their foot off the gas and loses.

Won on a PP during a delay of game penalty?

Yawn.

Oh noes...Marty is angry! 2 soft goals to decide a series? Yawnnnnnn.

You just don't like last year's final because you started celebrating a little too early.

Stanley Cup playoffs win due to the superior rules and rink.

The Caps/Pens game was due to be a letdown after all the hype. Luckily it's a series - and there's tons and tons of amazing hockey to come.

So yes, potentially a World Cup game was more exciting on this night, but as the series goes on, it most certainly will not be.

I didn't like either game to be honest. The Pens-Caps game was sloppy and nothing really happened in the WC game after the 1st.
The Americans horrible play didn't help either.

Can't argue against this last Caps-Pens game. Both Ovy and Crosby put on a show.

Muscle Bob's campaign against the NHL continues. Why are you even on this message board if you detest the NHL so much?
Because this is a Hockey Forum board not an NHL forum board!

Good point. To provide some balance I'll try to dig up a quote from Alexei Kaigarodov on the subject.

BS. Dude, did you even watch your Finland battling with Canada yesterday? And it was not even a playoff game. No hitting and boring? LOL.

I really enjoy this year's WC. So many great games so far.

No you can't, especially when both games have different rules (no-touch icing versus touch-up icing, continuous OT vs. OT + shootout, different ice surface, etc.)

Well yeah i found Russia USA to be more of a better flowing match more interesting. First period i enjoyed a lot. Then again i am not bashing Caps V Pens. I guess the smaller ice congested traffic which can give me the *****. Really depends on the style of hockey you enjoy. I like watching the NHL when i can however it can get somewhat to repetitive for me, just my opinion. Also the World Championships/Olympics would always come before the Stanley Cup for me. I'm sure its the same with many other Europeans. Still i try to watch both
