per TSN - Flyers have contacted the agent of Ray Emery

Being spoken of at the intermission of the Bruins/Hurricanes game.

Link to TSN article:

Quote:
NHL interest in former Ottawa Senators goaltender Ray Emery is starting to heat up.

Sources tell TSN the Philadelphia Flyers have had significant discussions with Emery's agent J.P Barry about the potential of the 26-year-old returning to the National Hockey League.

Emery played in Russia last season in the Kontinental Hockey League with Atlant Mytischi and has a lucrative offer on the table to return to the KHL with the same club.

Following Philadelphia's first round playoff elimination, Flyers GM Paul Holmgren acknowledged he'll have to consider all options in goal, considering Martin Biron and Antero Niittymaki are both scheduled to become unrestricted free agents on July 1.

I will be furious if the Flyers sign Emery.

He's no better than Biron in talent and he's a locker room cancer. Plus he's an unwanted distraction.

I'm pissed that they've even contacted his agent.

I doubt it would be for the backup role.

He's not going to play for zero or negative dollars.

**** Emery. They may just be "exploring options" but I don't buy into it. I feel like they're "exploring solutions" with this ****. Forget it. GO DO YOUR ****ING JOB, PAUL, BECAUSE **** LIKE THIS IS **** NO MATTER HOW YOU TRY TO SUGARCOAT IT.

Not only is he a locker room cancer but there would certainly be tension between him and Michael Richards.

Don't want Emery. Would rather just roll with Biron if he is our other best option.

If the Flyers are considering a new goalie, they need to go out and get a real one.

No more of this recycled cutting corners junk. It's been going on since Hextall. Maybe longer.

Nice. I wonder if Vanbiesbrouck is a Michael Richards fan?

If my understanding of Emery is correct, there would be tension between him and everyone.

It totally would be a backup role. He got chased out of the league, he would be lucky to get $1.25 for a backup role. I know he makes $2 in Russia, but he is better off accepting a cheaper contract over here and play as a backup, at least he could challenge for a starting role if he was playing well.

I don't want him myself, but if the Flyers grab him, I will be pissed. This bad boy thing is killing us.

There would be tension between Emery and the equipment manager. Isn't that who he got in a fight with on the bench?

Oh well, that must mean Holmgren and Snider think he's 'born to be a Flyer.'

Uh oh. Really wasn't suspecting this. Personally I really don't care if he signs with us or not. He cant be worse than Biron, in my opinion. Then again, in my opinion, no one is worse than Biron. However I dont tolerate hot heads too well. I HATED Steve Downie with a passion, but if we can get Emery for cheap, I wouldnt be opposed to having him on the team. He did lead the Sens to the SCF, so he can't be all that bad.

They might as well just put "Hextall" on the back of his jersey...

except that Emery sucks. As a Ranger fan I hope this is true.
