If this is who the Flyers go into the season with in net, I have lost what little faith I have left in Holmgren.

I've always found Emery entertaining to listen to on tv, doesn't seem like such a bad guy. He's had his off-ice troubles, that's for sure. I honestly don't know how I feel about this. It wouldn't be so bad if it's for the minimum for one year as a "earn your way back to the NHL" kind of deal.

I don't think he'd break the room up like most are saying. But I don't want him to be our bonafide starter either.

I want no part of Ray Emery. Hopefully this is nothing more than some sort of negotiation tactic for Biron as someone suggested earlier. I will take Biron ANY DAY over Emery.

Maybe it's an overreaction, but after hearing the report from the Town Hall meeting that no one knew who Gustavsson was, and now Holmgren contacting Emery's agent...

I'm starting to get the feeling that we all may be dissapointed after reading all the pipe dreams on here (I'm more guilty than anyone of this) that we get a Vokoun or Lehtonen...

No more of this recycled cutting corners junk. It's been going on since Hextall. Maybe longer.
I agree with this 1000%

I just threw up in my mouth a little.

Talk about going from one side of the spectrum to the next. Biron a guy, who is well liked in the locker room, probably makes the team laugh. Emery a guy who is a cancer to the room.

This team has problems with discipline and problems with their defensive personnel, problems with coaching, and problems with taking faceoffs.

And their solution is to start talks with Ray Emery. I don't even see how this counts as a negotiating tactic to be honest, it's just really ****ing dumb.

He and Spezza were/are huge cancers in the ottawa locker room. The last thing this team needs is a cancer in the room

Maybe they are using him to scare Biron into a lower price. If biron doesn't come cheap they get Emery to go beat him up.

However, not opposed to him as a back up. I think this team might need a cancer.

Totally agree. But then, what exactly has Homer done since his first season that would make inquiring about Ray Emery so shocking?

When you severely limit your flexibility in a salary cap world, you have a tendency to grasp at straws named Ray Emery.

Agreed, he has the ability, and perhaps a change of scenery could do him well. If we can get him on a one year deal I would be all for this.

If we could get him cheap. He did take a team to the finals.

It is a report based on sources. It could be true but no Flyers' official has substantiated the report as yet. The story could be nothing more than idle gossip or trivial chatter. The local media will most likely inquire and I wouldn't be shocked if Flyers' management responds to this in the next day or so.

I'm hoping so and fans (including myself) certainly tend to overreact to this kind of thing, but at the same time, this is a team that has displayed that it has obvious leadership and character issues and the first guy who pops up in connection with us is Ray Emery.

I have given Holmgren every benefit of the doubt, even up to the Carcillo trade, but at this point, I think some serious questions need to start being asked. Obviously give him the rest of the summer, but this team has had serious issues for the past 2 years that just haven't been addressed by the coaching or the front office.

EDIT: I should add that I don't think TSN is usually wrong about this kind of thing.
