Sleeper Picks for Next Year's Hockey Pool!
Who are players that are likely to score significantly more next year than this year?
I'll get us started:
- Mike Modano
- Alex Mogilny
- Teemu Selanne
- Danny Heatley

If Jason Allison and/or Adam Deadmarsh ever return...
Ziggy Palffy too.
Bertuzzi probably, if he's re-instated.

Jason Allison
Paul Kariya
Jeff O'Neill
Alexander Semin
Tuomo Ruutu
Nathan Horton
Quite a few as far as i'm concerned. You could hit a homerun with any of those guys as far as i'm concerned.

I think one of Dvorak/York could have a very solid season in the points category next year.. likewise, Ryan Smyth will probably get back to around a point/game.

My Sleeper picks this year were Sergei Samsonov and Jason Allison.
They both slept.

None of those are sleeper picks.
Mine would include Peter Schaefer, Erik Cole, Ruslan Fedotenko, Brent Sopel, Shawn Horcoff, Jan Hrdina, Richard Park, Steve Reinprecht, and Alexander Semin.
Hmmm, I guess some of those aren't sleepers either. Oh well, I'm not that great at pools.

Radim Vrbata is going to be given every chance to win a top 6 spot to start the year. He would be a decent gamble with a late round pick.

Marian Gaborik
Pascal Dupuis
Talk about bad years, not much could go wrong now outside of a major injury. Atleast Marian's starting to come around.
As far as dmen-Nick Schultz has garnered more playing time near the end of the season. He could more then double his point total with some PP time. 30-ish points is not exactly a huge improvement but it could be an indicator of things to come for him.

I don't think Selanne will be much of a sleeper next season, he might possibly put up some good numbers if he goes to a team who needs a star player and relentlessly relies on him, but if he goes to a team with any depth whatsoever, I see him missing out on 20 goals--again!
Tuomo Ruutu will be fun to watch, I think if there is hockey, he'll top 25 goals easily next season despite how well Chicago does.

Nash, Spezza, Zherdev, Kariya, Gaborik. Maybe Havlat as well..although a PPG is good enough, but he's likely to improve even more.

If Bert is re-instated, I can see him coming back and ripping it up like he did in 02-03.
