Please watch the inappropriate nationalist commentary. There's no need to start slinging insults back and forth about each others' heritage.

They're saying the same sort of inane things announcers in any language say. You can probably translate on your own.

No. Besides, everyone should know what the announcers are saying. They've got about 10-15 phrases that they use over and over again, in all countries.

"Bad to take a penalty in the offensive zone"
"The stick was up on the hands, it's an obvious hook"
"The goalie wasn't screened, he'll save that shot 7 days a week"

Play-by-play on TV is getting obsolete.

Is "Funkytown" the only song they have in Switzerland? Seems like every break in the action they're playing that song. I'm going to hate that song by the time this tournament is over!

An undeserved one if you ask me. Opinion on this board appears to be split but that looked to me like a clean hit and a hometown call.

I like how we're pretty much helping the Swiss players stay on their feet during battles for the puck because we're so afraid of penalties.

Oshie is the only entertaining part of this game.

Seems like Europeans used to their style of hockey don't like it, people who watch the NHL and north american style hockey see it as a bad call because in the NHL I think the blame would be on the guy who got hit in that situation for being in a stupid spot.

3-3.

Hmmm...just when I was about to say it looks like the USA is starting to take control...

We may be in trouble in Vancouver with this defense. They haven't played well in the tournament, and with the exception of Rafalski and maybe Komisarek or Orpik, we don't have many defensemen that are better than these guys. You can only blame Robert Esche for so much, when Russians and Swiss are given clear skating lanes inside the USA zone and are allowed to shoot from right in front of the net, you gotta point the finger at the d-men. If our defense isn't better in Vancouver I don't see us going too far.

EJ for sure, even if he was out this season.

Also, I think it's mostly just that they aren't used to playing with each other very much. That last goal was just poor communication. I think once the young defense plays a few more international games, the defense will tighten up.

Zorkan posted the entire boarding paragraph for you to read and some of you still can't fathom the boarding call on Backes?

What part of "ensure your opponent is not in a vulnerable position when you deliver the hit" can't be understood? The Suiss player was defenseless, which is why the hit was so dirty.
