No offense to Hitch, he's a good coach...

But I'd love to have a new head coach. I hate the style of play he preaches.

And then we regress as we retool the team to a new coach. I will stand pat with Hitch.

I like Hitch, but we must do something to open up our offensive confidence.

Sometimes I think the Jackets are smothered with instructions and the lack of on ice creativity.. There is a balance, Hitch needs to let the guys play the game open more than he does.

Yeah, he's a good coach, but he can only take us so far. You need an offense to win games in the NHL, see Carolina, Chicago, Pitt, Washington, etc. Hitch has never preached goal scoring or offense, always defense defense defense.

Great win by the Hawks... They made the conference finals after being one of the worst teams in the NHL three years ago.

Rick Dudley is very happy tonight.

Yet you're the same guy who said he likes the 1-2 games...

Honestly, we are young. Very young. It's going to take time. You just don't do it overnight. Give Hitch time. Give the boys time. We'll be all right in time. We just have to grow.

... but fire Claude Noel if you want a change, because his power play sucks!

I did, but that was based more on playoff type hockey, low scoring games in the playoffs is historically the way you win. During the regular season is different, you must have scoring greater than 1 or 2 goals per game to make the playoffs. Once in the playoffs you want Hitch like tight defense. The reason being: a 7 game series is different than an 82 game season.

I know I was saying two different things but the subjects in my mind where different even though I may mixed them up a bit. The Jackets must open up their offense during the regular season, the players must feel free to go and score...

I know. I was giving you a hard time. But yeah, we just need time. We will grow into things, and we will be happy.

I await the day when our expectations are "Stanley Cup or Bust" without question because it means the past is totally eradicated except in the history books. (Only I don't wanna pull a San Jose, either!)

I'm hard on those banking on making the playoffs with our rookies or one year players but truth be told I'm being cautious. I know we have many good young players but we must see more out them than what we saw this season to make the playoffs. And, we need more veteran players that know how to win in the playoffs.

Everyone is banking on Mason to win 40 games next year and take us to the Stanley Cup-I'm not so sure. I think he was burn't out by Hitchcock and has confidence issues right now.

The truth will be known by next December-in the mean time Mr. Howson better get a veteran goalie ready to take over and he better get some veteran players to support our youth.

If not...oh well, we will see.

This is a crap argument TW and you know it. The day our GM and his scouting staff can put together a roster that looks like the Hawks, Pitt, Washington etc., is the first day of the first season where we'll see offense. Until then the roster is what it is ... and that isn't much when it comes to scoring goals - much less scoring big goals in big games.

We are where Chicago was last year but they did not make the playoffs. Next year is going to be fun. Feel like being optimistic tonight.

Is that cus we are a small market in rural Ohio?

Hey, if we are a small market I can take you to a dead town on the banks of the Niagara river that has a smaller market than us yet scores a lot of goals.

No, Robert, it's because our roster is Slim Pickin's.

And, please tell me that you aren't yakking about Buffalo - because while they score some goals - they've never been able to put together a real playoff roster either. I don't want to trade the crud we have for the crud some other fanbase has. No point to that.

My point was sort of along yours (I think) but deeper. Even though we are a small market that does not mean we can't sign players who know how to score goals.

As for the mistake on the lake they did pretty good three years ago until Cam Ward decided to become a star.. I'd die for the Jackets to go that far.

Gotta love Patrick Kane...total balls. For those without the NHL network they showed a clip of him being interviewed on the ice just after the game tonight.

He was asked who he wants to play in the conference final, he said is there anything better than the Hawks vs. the Red Wings..

This kid is ready for the show..and he will deliver!
