Not sure the Caps had anything lefdt to give last night - maybe the cumulative effect of coming from 3-1 down in round 1 and six prior games in this tight, high-energy series. Additionally, I thought the Pens' play and intensity was first-rate, adding to the Caps' woes.

Agreed. Looked like he was auditioning for Manchester United on that one.

And of course the floodgates only opened up after one of these chincey "slashing" penalties where a guy taps the other guys stick and it breaks into 30 pieces. I'm sorry but you have got to be able to tell the difference between a slash and well, that. The sticks now are so brittle they might just disintegrate in your hands at any moment anyway, let alone with the pressure of someone else tapping it. If a guy taps another guys stick and gets the puck it's a great play; a guy does the same exact thing only your stick breaks, that's a 2 minute penalty. Total ********.

I agree, stick on stick should not be called even if it breaks. Stick on body is the rule, at least that's what I thought.

Crosby probably could make it in hollywood but his goals more than make up for it, the Pens distroyed Wash last night. I was very impressed with their total team commitment to winning. They look like a SC final's candidate to me... Fleury was Cup worthy last night as well.

I watched that Chara "slash" to the ankle from the other night and it looked totally harmless. He went down like a sack of potatoes.

I think the league needs to take a stand on the diver not the original call. After the lockout, the league started to crackdown on diving. It seems to have gotten away from it a bit.

Diving would stop if the only penalty was given to the diver.

I believe the league still fines divers and publishes names. Fines get higher with more infractions.

Good thing Crosby makes 9 Mil a season...
Wouldn't want to put him in the poor house.

Somewhere along the lines of when Regehr was fined for the headshot to Dorsett. About $1.99!

Yes.

(It's not surprising. Pittsburgh as a whole is pretty weird and creepy.)

This.

Way to stand in place for a minute, doing nothing, and wasting your early 5 on 3 chance, Ducks.

It's so fitting that the Wings get a horrible penalty called to go on the power play only to score.

**** Franzen and the acting lessons he took before he started pro-hockey.

Jesus... the officiating in the Det/Ana game is pretty much a microcosm of the entire season.

Franzen's a free agent this summer, right? Would we have any use for him?

He signed an 11 year deal in the middle of the season. We could nab him in 2020.
