Quite an interesting proposal. He reiterates that it is NOT a legit rumor, but something that he and his cohorts have kicked around the hot stove. I think it makes sense for each team to deal their captains here, but would like some other opinions of both Sharks and Rangers fans alike.
Don't really care for Drury, and think his post season awesomeness is a bit overrated (though I was shocked at how high up he is for GWG in the playoffs- Marleau is 10th among active players BTW).
Why would Marleau be ready for a change? He just had a kid. He's not waiving his NTC for any place.
If he were to, I could see him waiving it for LA. Its close enough to SJ for his family. But even then, I think the chances of that happening are slim.
I can't see either team doing this. Both guys are expensive as all hell so the savings is minimal and each player has no desire to move from their respective teams.
Drury's contract is pretty rank for his skills, but as was previously mentioned, he's got heart and might be able to inject life into the Sharks. I might consider it with some more (a pick) if I were San Jose.
not saying that I agree with the deal or anything but Sharks fans need to wake up and realize that the skill level of our team isn't what got us ousted in the early rounds, AGAIN. If we have to sacrifice a little bit of skill for some heart and determination, then so be it.

Jed Ortmeyer has heart and determination. Actually Vern Fiddler and Jerred Smithson do as well. All three are a fraction of the cost of Drury so on behalf of the Predators I hereby offer them in exchange for Marleau.
I think my deal has the same chance of getting done in the real world, too.
I don't see enough going to the Sharks, although to be fair to Drury, his disappointing play in the playoffs was directly tied to injuries. If he's still playing right now and a force in the second round, we're probably saying the Sharks would need to add more and/or that Drury isn't available at any price.
Of course, due to his ironclad NMC, Drury may not be available at any price anyway.

Drury played with a broken right hand which was suffered in the Rangers second to last regular season game against Philly.
