Make it Seven: Balsillie makes offer for Phoenix Coyotes

On the condition that he can move the team to southern ontario. 212 million.

If you support this, you can go to makeitseven dot com to sign an online petition.

Here is the article from the globe and mail

I would love to see another team in southern Ontario, whether its in Northern Toronto, Hamilton or whatnot. Although signing a petition is silly, is that really going to be the difference between Phoenix moving to SO.

Move it to Hamilton please. I'd buy season tickets.

The Yotes have an insane lease though, they move they owe a ridiculous amount of money. Like hundreds of millions according to lease.

From what I understand they declared Chapter 11 Bankruptcy which nullifies most contracts. I could be wrong but that is what I understand.

I think Winnipeg deserves to have their Jets back before Southern Ontario or Québec.

I'd still be a Sens fan but live NHL action in my backyard would be cool.

Easier then going to Buffalo for a game.

True. Winnipeg should have first dibs. Although I question the city's ability to support another NHL franchise.

The Division alignment would be completely screwed.

Just for clarification, the "make it seven" petition is Balsillie's, not mine.

Please come to Hamilton... I will finally be able to see my beloved Sens and not have to pay ridiculous ticket prices at the ACC. It would also rid Hamilton of a lot of bandwagon Pittsburgh fans and the Leafers.

I don't think you can have PIT and PHI in different divisions. Just would not fly (pun intended). Maybe move WAS and PHI and it may work.

I don't understand why they would not give Canada a new team. A city like Hamilton

could easily support a hockey team on its own, with Guelph, Cambridge, Woodstock,

Milton within that area. Heck Toronto could support another team on it's own! Why Gary

Bettman is so reluctant to give Canada another team is a mystery to me.

Bettman is so steadfast in refusing to move teams because it shows a weakness in the league, and he will go to Hell and back before he lets that happen.

All that being said, it would really suck for the fans (all 13 of them) in Phoenix to lose their team, and, not to mention the city of Glendale, who ponied up over $100 million to build the frigging stadium there. I'm sure they would seek some sort of payment even if the team declares bankruptcy. As it stands right now, there is something like a 30 year agreement between the Yotes and the city, and it is due to pay something like $3 million a year, PLUS all of the parking revenue. I would have to imagine that the Yotes are nowhere near worth $212 million, and that a large chunk of that is to go to the city.

I would also love for the team to go to Winnipeg, but, I'm not convinced that the city would support the team in the long run. The most practical location is in southern Ontario.

You would have to think that the NHL will have to approve Balsile's offer, only because who in their right mind is going to invest in a team that loses $30 million a year?

No, it would be the Hamilton Puma-Cats.

When they suck, and they will, they will be called the Pu-Cats.
