Will Green's lack of defense give game 3 away?

This guy has been terrible on the defensive side and while Ovie is plying like a superstar, Green is making Crosby look like one by not covering the guy while he standing in the crease. Don't give me the flu, his girlfriend or whatever. Suck it up, your getting paid to do a job!!!!. This is the only site that is not seeing it. Take a walk over to the Caps site and see how the fans are ripping Green for his lack of defense. f Green continues this lack of play, Crosby will make us pay!!! Take it to the bank

Cracking me up...

http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pitt.../s_623801.html

Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury said Tuesday he would not be surprised if Ovechkin plays with an illegally curved stick blade. "I haven't taken a look at it," Fleury said. "The puck sometimes sticks to it pretty good, even if it's bouncing."

My open letter response...

Hi Rob,

Sounds to me, judging by the context of your player quotes that you are the only one wondering about Ovechkin's stick blade...Why even stir up something like this with other players, who obviously either don't care or never felt the need to check it out.. Journalism at its finest.

I enjoyed this quote:

Quote:
Bylsma on left wing Chris Kunitz, whose closing-seconds hit to the upper-body region of Capitals goalie Simeon Varlamov in Game 2 drew criticism from Washington players: "He was going to the net, trying to create a loose puck and trying to jam home a rebound. He had no intention of doing anything but that and trying to get us back in the game." The NHL reviewed video footage of the incident yesterday, but had not disciplined Kunitz as of last night.
"He was going to the net," Wrong.

"trying to create a loose puck" Totally wrong.

"and trying to jam home a rebound." Spectacularly wrong.

"He had no intention of doing anything but that and trying to get us back in the game." Hilariously wrong.

Will the OB's lack of hockey knowledge give the Caps a chance to win another series. Let's see, the OB's were imploding after the Caps were down 1-3 to the Rangers. Keep it up boys, your doing us proud...

Wow, and I thought the Pens fans were looking at the replay through black and gold colored glasses.

Another piece of fodder from the boys over at Trib-Review.

http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pitt...rce=rss&feed=8

More perplexing for the Penguins is their inability to break him, rattle him or otherwise make Varlamov look vulnerable.
(further down the article)

Through two games, Varlamov has repeatedly made saves that prevented the Penguins from either re-taking leads or building upon them at critical junctures.
Chris Kunitz tried a shot to Varlamov's head in the closing seconds of Game 2.
Too little, too late.

any word yet on erskine and letang. I'm guessing no letang for tonight, he looked like he separated his shoulder. Who would take his place?

Probably Alex Goligoski, but they would have to call him up...

Bob Errey talking about Ovechkin having an illegal stick on NHL on the Fly just now. Just the desperate last hope. Its a must win for Pittsburgh tonight. Pull out all the stops.

Here's the thing, it makes no sense to bust Ov for the illegal stick in the first two periods or when Pittsburgh has the lead. This means prime time is late in the game if the Pens are behind and Ov won't be using the 9 iron in that scenario.

Big deal.

I would be thrilled to give Goligoski a hearty welcome to the NHL playoffs. This rookie shrimp is your perfect opportunity to respond to Kunitz.
