There were two threads on this subject on the OB but now all threads related to it are deleted. Now the Pens fans are coming on to the Caps OB and quoting posts on their boards.
They're not only quoting the hockey side, they're also on the Anything But Hockey side quoting posts there too.
Fortunately the Mods finally decided to stop validating accounts until the series is over since the trolling was at epic levels even before the death threat comments.
I could easily see this as someone used to the hyperbolic nature of message boards getting a little (ok, maybe more than a little) carried away. Still, there are some lines that you just can't cross, and it looks like everyone involved has handled the case well so far.
With Ovechkin being a high-profile figure, any type of direct threat has to be investigate. There have been too many instances of high profile figures being threatened and the worst sometimes happens.
Thats wierd. I think most will assume Ovi can just brush it aside but if it does bother him, that should surprise no one. I wonder if Ted should spring for some blackwater guys for the time in Pitt.

I'm sorry for your friend, but yes, you absolutely have to take this kind of message board threat seriously. There have been plenty of seemingly silly/harmless message board postings of the past several years that have turned into, or nearly turned into tragedies.

Just remember, this guys actions is his actions alone, it should not effect all Pens fans. I may not like Ovechkin alot, especially right now, but me, nor anyother Pens fan on hf boards, or other boards will take this to the next level and wanna kill someone. Overreaction or not, once you say you are going to kill someone you need to back away from the keyboard and go outside, and do something else then watch hockey. It's just a game afterall, nobody should take the game THIS seriously. It's for pure entertainment, Period. I am mad for a total of 5 minutes or less, then i am over it.

Some people are loons, and that can't be helped. That goes for any Caps fans who take this as an indictment of Pens fans as a whole, too.
