Great first game for Rišo, too bad there´s no vidoe for his goal you described Kamzik, would have loved to see that one....
Meanwhile the HK Orange 20 team played a preseason game against 1.liga newcomers Hk Brezno, which the U20 team won 4:5 (3:1,0:3,1:1), can´t find the scorers anywhere.
There he is. Marek Hrivik scored a goal tonight in his Moncton debut. I guess that means he has now arrived to Canada and is ready to get the season started. In addition I heard that Adam Janosik was very solid tonight in the Gatineau-Ottawa derby, 1 assist and five shots. There are some talented Slovak players this year in the CHL.

Are there any streams of the CHL games?
I would love to see some.
Gratz to Marek. I'm glad Slovaks are showing some talent finally.
I believe that there is a website with free streams for all Q games, but I don´t remembe rthe name anymore. As for WHL and OHL, I don´t think there is anything as that, but there should be streams at least for some games.
I´ve got an update from the U20 teams game against Brezno yesterday here:
Hudáček (Bakoš) 0-1
Šťastný 3-2
Lisoň 3-3
Šimčák (Petro Cingel) 3-4
Petro 4-5
Notes:
Hudáček scored the first goal in the 4th minute of the first period ater a nice pass from Bakoš
At the start of the 2nd period Šťastný scored on a two man advantage and then shortly after that Lisoň made it 3-3 during an one man advatage.
In the 13th period at 12:53 Šimčák scored after passes from Cingel and Petro. The winning goal came from Petro in the 16th period of the rd and it was a rebound. Andrej Šťastný tried to score an empty netter, but he hit the post in the dying minutes of the macth.
All this info is according to the report from Brezno´s website. The game was played without spectators as are all Brezno´s home games for now, I believe it´s due to the fact that their arena is not finished completely yet.
Janus, Mihalik, and Panik have all received invites to Tampa Lightning training camp starting Sept. 8. Panik had another goal and assist in his second game with the Spitfires, but will soon leave the OHL team for the Lightning.
In a rather strange one, and not qualifying as Slovak youth hockey discussion, Miro Lazo has received an invite to Edmonton Oilers camp. There are players in the Extraliga I would be more interested in than him, but I am not a Slovan Bratislava fan. -I realize Lazo is not currently signed with Slovan, but he is training with them.

I don't believe that Telus site will have those QMJHL games for free anymore which is too bad.
I guess with Jurco, Hrivik, and Panik having impressive North American debuts, it was Tomas Tatar's turn to show his skills, this time at a higher level than his three compatriots. The Detroit Red Wings took on the Atlanta Thrashers in the opening game of the 2009 Traverse City Prospect Evaluation Tournament. Tatar finished the game with two goals on two shots, and an impressive +3 rating. Way to go Tomas!
Adam "Don't call me Juraj" Janosik was held scoreless in the second Ottawa-Gatineau derby of the CHL pre-season.

Actually, you were wrong Kamzik, Rišo didn´t have just one, but three assists, that makes two 4 point games in a row.

That really sucks, I was looking forward to seeing Jurco in a few games.

I think you will certainly see him at the WJCU20 in December. I actually don't know how that will work and what Mikes will do. Will Jurco, Viedensky, Panik, Janosik, Hrivik, Tatar, Stajnoch, (+? Hricina, Kudrna, Bortnak) take positions from HK Orange 20 guys?

Well, I have some doubts about Jurco at the WJC.
About your question, some yes, but definitely not all. Tatar, Panik and Viedensky are all much guaranted a spot as is Stajnoch since he´s out best D anyway and he´s playing in Slovakia and therefore available for all national team meetings which gives him an edge. Jansoik , I certainly doubt that one, IMO I wouldn´t bet my money even on Marincin, who will play with the Orange team. As for Hrivik and the guys in the brackets, I´d say it depends on how they´ll do, but I´d say maximally 1 of them makes it and there also is Rado Illo. Jurco, that´s where I´m not sure as he is still very young, too young to be on the top 6 and I don´t see Mikes taking him as a bottom 6 forward as it is better to have someone do the deffensive things for you, who´s been playing for you all year and know´s what to do.
I´d say Stajnoch, Tatar, Panik, Viedensky, Illo and Hrivik/Jurco (?)
I seriously doubt there will be any more than 5-6 "imports" on the team.
Some might disagree with me, but this is Mikes´ way of thinking and doing things: If I have two players who are of pretty much the same level and I have to choose between one whom I´ve seen in one meeting or one that has been working under me for half a year (or even longer) and knows my tactics, I´ll choose the latter.
It would be of course different if all our players had the skill the Canadians or Swedes do, but with the players we have, this is the smarter thing to do.
We´ve tried the everyone who´s playing in the CHL than back home scenario and we´ve seen how that one works in 2007.
I´d say Stajnoch, Tatar, Panik, Viedensky, Illo and Hrivik/Jurco (?)

I agree with the Mikes philosophy, and you are right that the 2007 team with 13 CHL players was a near disaster. I would have no major problem with guys like Bortnak, Hricina, Preisinger and Kudrna left off the team. I had forgotten about Illo. I suppose if it was up to me, I would have seven imports (I would include both Hrivik and Jurco, plus the big 3 top line and both Illo & Stajnoch). Gaborik was a major part of the 1999 bronze medal team at age 16, nicely supplementing the top line of Zalesak-Nagy-Batovsky. I'm not saying Jurco is the next Gaborik, but the U18 games I saw him play in he was a force.

At the U18 leve, exactly. It´s a huge jump from the U18 WHC/Hlinka Memorial to the WJC. You can´t forget that this is a tournament primarily for 19 year olds.
You´re forgetting one thing, Gaborik was a regular for Trencin back then already, who had more points in the league than Tatar did last year and Tatar was a year and a half older than Gaborik. IMO, Gaborik was and is a generational talent, trying to compare someone to his situation back then is not a good idea. The guy played his first Extraliga game at 16 (97/98 season) and scored his first goal and he might have played more than just the one game during the 97/98 season if they didn´t find out that he was in fact ineligible for the senior squad as they already had brought him from the U18 to the U20 squad the same season and you could "ostaršiť" an U18 player just once during a season.
Jurco won´t pass up for a top 6 role at the WJC this year (next year that is a different thing) and I just have trouble imagining him being something else than top 6. Therefore I doubt he´ll make it.
Also, I don´t think it will be seven, do you believe that Mikes will play 6 (!) "import" forwards? Because I just don´t.
But mabye I am wrong and you are right, who knows.
Here is an article about the HK Orange 20 team from hokejportal. And here is a very free translation, in which I omitted a few sentences:
Quote:
Before the start of the season: HK Orange 20
Coach Mikeš is starting his third season of the project with his young players. Of course, the line-up changes every year, but the aims stay the same. Hopefully the youngsters will be just as last season, when they could take a few league teams by surprise.
Event of the summer
For the U20 team it was the home tournament Summer Hockey Challenge. The coaches could see more players in action and it definitely showed them a lot before the start of Extraliga. We´ll just remind you that the young Slovaks defeated the Swiss and Germans, but lost to the Finns and Czechs and finished third.
What to expect before the 2009/2010 season? Well, boys, good luck! The quality seems interesting and promising towards the WJC this year. Espacially the first line of Gašparovič, Libor Hudáček and Andrej Šťastný wakes interest. But they´re not the only ones that Slovak fan can be curious. On defense you´ll definitely notice Peter Slimák, Matúš Rais, maybe Tomáš Devečka or Richard Vojsovič. We´ll see which boys will wake interest.
Who´s in the line-up? Goalies: Matej Kristín, Marek Čiliak Defense: Matúš Rais, Henrich Jaborník, Michal Šiška, Ivan Jankovič, Tomáš Devečka, Richard Vojsovič, Peter Slimák, Martin Marinčin Forwards: Jakub Gašparovič, Libor Hudáček, Andrej Šťastný, Martin Uhnák, Maroš Grošaft, Martin Bakoš, Marek Lisoň, Ján Sýkora, Samuel Mlynarovič, Dominik Šimčák, Lukáš Cingel, Juraj Petro
A word from the coach: Štefan Mikeš Mr. Mikeš, two years ago your team won three Extraliga games, in the last season it was five. Do you have a secret wish of how many it will be this year?
"Neither a bet nor a wish. We don´t consider the Extraliga just as good preparation for the WJC. We also want to prepare the young hockey players to get used to the highest competition step by step. The points are not counting for us, therefore we don´t give ourselves any concrete goals. Our aim however is to play a series of quality balanced games against Extraliga teams. And of course, the highlight for us will be as every year the WJC. I believe that we will play a lot of games in the Extraliga, after which we will be satisfied with play adn results."
A word for the reincforment: Libor Hudáček Libor, in a short while you´ll play in your Extraliga debut. What are your feelings?
"I´m a little bit nervous. But in a nice way. I believe that I´ll play good. I´m really curious for it all."
Who were your linemates?
"I played with Jakub Gašparovič and Andrej Šťastný during the whole preseason, It should be like that in the league as well."
Who will you rather score against? Your home team Spišská Nová Ves or Slovan, the team that currently owns you rights?
"I´m not choosing (laughs). I want to score against both. Hopefully I´ll make it.
And how big of a motivation is your brother Július, the Košice goalie?
"A huge one. I wanted to score on him in the Extraliga my whole life. We´ve talked about it numerous time and we were taunting each other. We haven´t made a bet yet, but that we´ll come.
Our ideal six: Čiliak-Rais, Slimák-Gašparovič,L.Hudáček,Uhnák
Wha does Radoslav Hecl think?
The u20 team belongs to the outsiders of Extraliga. We can´t expect a big collecting of points from them or a series of wins, but already last year it showed that they could beat opponents which they couldn´t beat before. There is a development, but it is quite slow and it could be faster. Of course, it also depends, of how the young boys will do with their chance. Mabe, it´s touger to motivate them sometimes, but their priority lies somewhere else than with the other teams.
Tomas Tatar had an unassisted goal tonight at the Traverse City Prospect Evaluation Tournament plus one helper. Tatar is 3+1 in two games with the Red Wings. I didn't see his goal tonight but others that did are calling it the "goal of the tournament". I don't know how much of this is true, but the coach of the Plymouth Whalers is not with his team in pre-season, instead he is at the tournament in Traverse City in an attempt to get Tomas Tatar to play for them this year (Tatar's rights were traded by Kitchener to Plymouth about a month ago). Geographically speaking, Plymouth is a Detroit suburb. I think it would be foolish for Tatar to play junior, there is nothing for him to gain by going backwards. It should be Zvolen, Grand Rapids, or Detroit.
Juraj Mikus (Trencin not Skalica) was a scratch for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Lastly, Jaroslav Janus made his return to Erie of the CHL and backstopped the Otters to a 4-4 tie with the Niagara IceDogs. Janus stopped 31 of 35 shots.
Tatar terrific in Traverse City
By Sarah Lindenau - RedWingsCentral.com / September 8, 2009
Tomas Tatar is putting on a show in Traverse City.
The Slovak dynamo is tied for first in scoring at the annual NHL prospects tournament with three goals and an assist in two games, including Monday night's one-goal, one-assist showing in a 5-3 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.
"These games are fast, physical and smart," said the energetic Tatar. "The North American game is really good. I want to play more."

The 18-year-old center may get his wish, if his Slovak ExtraLiga team Zvolen releases him from his contract. Tatar, draft sixth overall in the 2009 Canadian Hockey League import draft by Kitchener and later traded to Plymouth, would like nothing better than to stay in North America and play for the Whalers.
"I want to (stay in) North America, but I have a contract in Slovakia," said Tatar, who had 23 points in 61 games last season. "I want to play in the O-League really, really bad, but we will have to (wait) until after the tournament."
The Red wings drafted the 5-foot-11, 176-pound forward, with the 60th overall pick in June's draft believing they added a player with top-end offensive potential. Tatar was thrilled when he heard Detroit call his name back in June.
He had actually purchased a Red Wings hat a couple of years ago before being drafted and is wearing it at the tournament for good luck.
"Detroit is my favorite club and to be drafted by them is my dream," he said.
While the Red Wings are excited about Tatar's potential, they are also concerned about his lack of size. Tatar believes his small stature won't be an issue citing his strong play in the corners and along the boards and his hockey smarts.
"More guys play in the NHL now are small," Tatar said. "Martin St. Louis is small, strong and very fast. He's who I want to play like."
panik's goal is similar to the one Satan scored last season.
anyway, Tomas Tatar is changing his opinions like socks. He said during the summer that OHL is not an option for him. Now he says he wants to play there. Thats a radical change of mind.

Either that or someone´s been lying here all along.
Anyway, it was decided today that Slovakia U20 will play in the Extraliga in the 2010/2011 season as well.
Marek Viedensky was cut from San Jose Sharks prospects camp and sent back to the Prince George Cougars of the WHL. Tomas Tatar finally went a game without scoring, but was +2 versus the Dallas Stars. Mario Bliznak had one of Vancouver's goals versus the Edmonton Oilers. Juraj Mikus registered his first point as a Los Angeles King setting up a Brayden Schenn goal versus the Hamilton Coyotes.
On Wednesday Tomas Hricina had an assist in the Regina Pats loss to the Brandon Wheat Kings. Miroslav Preisinger was the lone Slovak in CHL pre-season action on Thursday night.

I don't think its possible to get cut from a prospect camp he was probably just sent home with/without an invite for main camp or he was injured or something.
