I prepared some NHL stats for you as I did for my Team Sweden: Give recommendations on which finnish players from NHL that could make your team! And list your possible WC players who are non-NHL below.

points-games, team, player

29 Boston
22 New Jersey
19 Washington (Lepistö)
18 Philadelphia (Niittymäki, Timonen, Kukkonen)
11 Montreal (Koivu)
11 Florida (Peltonen)
10 NY Rangers (Korpikoski)
8 Pittsburgh
8 Carolina (Pitkänen, Jokinen, Ruuttu)
7 Buffalo (Lydman, Numminen)
-1 Toronto (Toskala, Hagman)
-6 Ottawa (Ruutu)
-8 Atlanta (Lehtonen, Salmela)
-11 Tampa (Ramo)
-15 NY Islanders (Bergenheim)

30 San Jose
28 Detroit (Filppula, Leino)
18 Calgary (Kiprusoff, Jokinen)
17 Chicago
12 Vancouver (Salo, Vaananen)
6 Columbus
5 Dallas (Lehtinen)
5 Edmonton
4 Nashville (Rinne, Koistinen, Pihlström)
4 Minnesota (Bäckström, Koivu, Mietinen)
1 Anaheim (Selänne, Nokelainen)
1 St. Louis
-2 Los Angeles
-5 Phoenix
-7 Colorado

This team was suggested by pampatus (below): In bold i put NHL players, which seem too many if you want to put a team on the ice in march. Any more non NHL players that could make it? I also believe you have a good chance off adding Saku Koivu to the roster. The probably face the Flyers in round 1.

Tuomo Ruutu - Mikko Koivu - Antti Miettinen
Sean Bergenheim - Petri Kontiola - Niklas Hagman
Jukka Hentunen - Niko Kapanen[/B] - Sami Kapanen
Jarkko Ruutu - Riku Hahl - Petteri Nokelainen

Jussi Jokinen?
Teemu Selänne?

Joni Pitkanen - Toni Lydman
Petteri Nummelin - Ville Koistinen
Anssi Salmela - Janne Niskala

Numminen?
Antti Jussi Niemi? (KHL)

Bäckström
Pekka Rinne
Kari Lehtonen

Lines could be something like this.

Tuomo Ruutu - Mikko Koivu - Antti Miettinen
Sean Bergenheim - Petri Kontiola - Niklas Hagman
Jukka Hentunen - Niko Kapanen - Sami Kapanen
Jarkko Ruutu - Riku Hahl - Petteri Nokelainen

Joni Pitkanen - Toni Lydman
Petteri Nummelin - Ville Koistinen
Anssi Salmela - Janne Niskala

Pekka Rinne
Kari Lehtonen

If Minnesota, Carolina and Nashville go to playoffs we're in big trouble.

I'd still put Bäckström in goal as number one.

Yes he probably should be our number one if possible.
For some reason I forgot him from my lineup suggestion

I doubt that we will get Pitkanen and Lydman on defence.

What about Markus Seikola from Ilves? Anyone think he deserves a look?

I would also consider Leo Komarov from Pelicans, Jarkko Immonen and Tuomas Pihlman from JYP.

I agree, Lehtonen/Backstrom tandem would work well.

There should be 2 whole lines from second division of the Finish league. Some of those players are true warriors u heard me. They finna score and rule the hockey world, it's all bout that mental thang really. If a player wants to do thangs and move thangs, he can do anything. Just like Claude Lemieux has done his thang. He a true winner u heard me. An Ex-Conn. 4 Stanley Cups. 80 playoff goals. 19 game winners in the playoffs. 3 times he scored more goals in the playoffs, than in the regular season. Lemieux thinks cups, he decides cups by sitting on the bench and thinking differently.

A player from finish second division can think differently and change the world. Win thangs.

Also, finish hockey players should it much more chicken. It has different types of proteins in it... not like pork or like some ****in cow has.... chicken wings make people run faster. A human being can do any thangs faster by eating chicken. Evidence is right there. Look what kind of people rule the 100m and other running sports. Fastest men in the world. I luv dat dere mane. We gon do our thang.
So go get that paper and eat some. We should try something different and shock the hockey world.

Yep, Yep...

And we should get Jyrki Lumme, Raimo Helminen and 'Veikko' Nieminen becouse they are real warriors.
Yeah, Right.

Oh, I almost forget, Tamminen Should be a headcoach. He knows everything about hockey.

This actually looks pretty good, young and hungry team. I think.
But, hagman and Bergs are injured now, so they might take it easy and skip the games. And I Pitkänen has long history to found something else to do than play in national team, it's a shame.

Tuomo Ruutu - Mikko Koivu - Antti Miettinen
Sean Bergenheim - Petri Kontiola - Niklas Hagman
Jukka Hentunen - Niko Kapanen - Sami Kapanen
Jarkko Ruutu - Riku Hahl - Petteri Nokelainen

Joni Pitkanen - Toni Lydman
Petteri Nummelin - Ville Koistinen
Anssi Salmela - Janne Niskala

Pekka Rinne
Kari Lehtonen

Some of you guys put these guys on the D:

Petteri Nummelin - Ville Koistinen
Anssi Salmela - Janne Niskala

Offense is the best defense? Are you guys nuts?

We need defensive minded dmen on the team too! like Mikko Jokela.

What about Seikola?

His bodychecks remind me of T.R.

Oh please no Jokela this year. It tells lot about Finland`s defenseman situation when Jokela makes the team year after year. It`s just sad.

Toni Koivisto anyone?
I havent seen a single Kärpät game this year so I dont have a clue how he has played this season. Stats are pretty good and everyone knows his speed. Last year he suffered injury this time a year and had to withdraw from national team. I think this year he has played zero EHT games so propably he`s not very high on Jalonen`s list. But if he get`s to the pre camp he could fight his way to the team.

Toni Koivisto should get a shot. At worst he can still play a checking line role.

-Toskala is out with season ending surgery.
-Hagman is still out with a major concussion related injury, I doubt he will play in WC.

actually Hagman is considered day to day now.
He might even make it for the last few Toronto games.

He's gonna be ready for the WC.

However, the big question is will Mikko Koivu be healthy?

He got a knee injury last nite!

I didn't include him on my roster. He wouldn't have had a shot even healthy.

Selänne is retired from the champs, but maybe a couple of finns on his team can help him change his mind.

It's interchangable

Hentunen is probably the best midfielder-type in modern hockey and I really want to see what Koivisto brings at this level.

Korpikari is a personal favourite. And I would take anyone in that 6th defenseman spot above the likes of Luoma, Söderholm etc.
