Can Julien magic work again?

2004 down 3-1 to Bruins, Habs win in 7.

2008 down 3-1 to Habs, Bruins force game 7

Can he go 2-for-3 in this situation?

Sláinte,

Murph

All I know is they can't play the way they did Friday night in front of the home crowd. It's just not acceptable.

If we play like we have the last three games, no. However, Julien won't let that happen. If we play like we did in the 1st game of the series, we will take this. Finish our checks, play with heart and intensity, and play like we give a damn. I have faith that Julien will bring out the best in the Bruins tonight.

If they can get to a 7th game, it's gravy

I'm not sure but he better get some fight out of this team or my opinion of him will fall sharply.

Certainly hope that Julien can perform some magic.....

Speaking of Julien.....I realize that there can be a myriad of reasons why a team loses or doesn't perform up to expectations (e.g. inexperience, lack of heart/desire, superior opponent.., etc) and I'm not saying that one or all of these are not factors in the Bruins recent play. I wondering (and I am in no way advocating a Julien lynch mob here) what is everyone's opinion on Juliens performance during this series so far? How do you feel about his in-game and overall series coaching/adjustments? Obviously we're not privy to what he says or does in the locker room...but based on what you can see, what do you think? And if you don't agree with what he has done.....what would you do differently?

Once again....I'm not looking to bash Julien......I'm just wondering everyones thoughts.

Should we fail this series, a significant part of the blame has to go to Julien. It's up to the players to execute, but Julien hasn't done them any favors with the ridiculous attention he pays to Eric Staal. It disrupts the team's game because they try to hold the puck and wait for Chara to get on the ice instead of just making plays. Julien's philosophy all season was "concentrate on our game, not the opponent's". He seems to have gone back on that philosophy and his team is on the brink of elimination, yet he shows no signs of changing this misguided line matching.

Absolutely this, the only other time we really did this was against Washington and the results were similar, we play great as a team, when we start concentrating on individual matchups that kills us, Julien set us up to play like that I don't know why he turns his back on it now.

I also feel like he is too determined to get goal scorers on the ice, the problem isn't that we are not finishing shots, it is that we aren't generating chances and we should concentrate on doing that first, even if it means we have to play a shutdown trap system to get some puck possession.

Thirdly his undying devotion to Wheeler has been troubling, after Kessel got benched last year after being one of only 3 guys to get a point in the game, Wheeler has I believe 1 point in the POs and is still getting serious minutes.

Mostly it is concentrating on Staal because it is something the team has not practiced doing and it is absolutely destroying our Rhythm, the other things I can forgive, but this is a serious mistake by Julien and hopefully he figures this out.

What Julien needs to do for the 1st period tonight is the following:

1st line (starting faceoff) - Yelle, Thornton, Lucic

2nd line - Savard, Kobasew, Ryder

3rd line - Krejci, Kessel, Bitz

4th line - Bergeron, Wheeler, Recchi

(Axelsson dressed to sit the first - going with 5d)

Then, once we are up 2-0....back to game 1 starting lines....

Savard, Axelsson, Kessel
Krejci, Ryder, Lucic
Bergeron, Recchi, Kobasew
Yelle, Wheeler, Thornton
(Bitz sitting)

Alternately, Bergeron might do good to take a spin as a winger with Savard and Lucic or Kessel. Need to get Patrice jumpstarted as well as Kobasew.

Lots of hitting and moving the skates to draw penalties!

PUT CHARA IN FRONT OF THE NET for the PP!!!

Lets forget about gm7 right now. We need a win at home and only one in Carolina. If we win these next two, i think we'll take 7 at home.

Julien needs to fight fire with fire. We need to send two men deep when the time calls for it.

Lets be careful what we wish for every game is tough to win in the playoffs when you are facing elimination. If we can win game 5 I don't think winning game 6 or 7 will be any easier.

Win this one, steal a game on the road, and anything can happen in Game 7!

In order for us to have any hope of winning Games 6 and 7, Julien has to emphasize this team to win not the next two games, not the next game, not the next three periods, but to WIN EACH SUCCEEDING PERIOD ONE AT A TIME AND PLAYING EACH PERIOD AS IF IT ITSELF WERE FOR THE CUP.

No matter what, Soderberg would've scored there.
