Hjalmarsson

He is a very underated young dman.

Very impressive this year. Him and Campbell could be a longterm pairing, they work well together

I haven't seen Ericsson enough to make a good comparison so I am going to abstain from voting. But I love Hjalmarsson and think he will become a quality second pairing guy. He is already a good second pairing guy and has only played like 30 NHL games.

Havnt seen much of Hjalmarsson but I'm glad many of you think highly of him. Ericsson is a stud and will be a great player.

I like them both, but Hjalmarsson gets my vote.

Hjalmarsson, he's been far more impressive this postseason. He's been Chicago's best after Seabrook and Keith, but that's no slight to Hjalmarsson - it's tought to be better than those two.

I think Ericsson has a lot more potential. He's definitely better offensively.

That being said, I really like Hjalmarsson as a player. He's always very smart with the puck. Not flashy, but he knows when to chip the puck out and he doesn't make a lot of mistakes.

The commentators on CBC keep pronouncing it "Chalmerson". That's gotta be wrong.

I believe it is pronounced like Zherdev? So "Zhalmerson"? I think that is how the Chicago broadcast guys say it. Someone from Sweden help us out.

He is definitely very smart with the puck and could one day be our best defensive defenseman, which is saying something. I don't see much offensive upside though. I want to see him paired up with either Keith or Seabrook so they can mentor him. It wouldn't hurt Barker to be paired with whichever one he didn't get because Barker could definitely use some mentoring defensively.

Ericsson has been a revelation for the Wings. Steady as she goes on the 3rd pairing for the first round, but when Rafalski got hurt he vaulted to the top pairing. He's only been on the ice for 2 ES goals against so far in the playoffs. Ericsson and Stuart are pretty much a tie for the 2nd best Wing D behind Lidstrom so far in the playoffs.

The H in Hjalmarsson is silent so I guess you could pronounce it "jalmarsson"

Ericsson. This is going to be a good rivalry provided they stay where they are.

Well, except their j is pronounced like our dj, so I guess it really should be yalmarsson.
Phonetically, I guess something along the lines of:
Yahl-mahr-son... that's the best I can do.

Ericsson, has the potential to be a Norris Trophy candidate later on in his career as he becomes acclimated. Huge upside to his game.

Both are great; it was hard, but the edge goes out to Ericsson.

I haven't seen much of Hjalmarsson yet, but I know that he'll, along with Ericsson will be great players in the long run.

Ericsson has stepped in onto the top defensive pairing with the best defenseman in the game, and has kept up quite well, playing 21 minutes a night.

Jonathan Ericsson.

A little food for thought... Ericsson was a natural forward until he came to Detroit.

Hjalmarsson has stepped on to a pairing with one of the biggest riverboat gamblers in the league and has covered for him well.
