Steve Sullivan as a UFA

What is he worth? He has proven he can put up great numbers, but his health is a huge risk, obviously.
What do you give him, open market?

Islanders have tons of cap space and way below the league minimium. 1 year @ 4M

I think at that money Nashville sort of needs to resign him; They had the 24th ranked offense this year, and they have the cap space to sign him, without a doubt. The main problem is going to be what the team sets the budget as. But if he plays a full season and scores 70+ points, that's a great investment. When you consider he would probably sign in Nashville for less, I can't really see him hitting the market.

I think he's a great player, one of the most underrated in the league. Too bad about his injury concerns, but he's a better player than more than a few players in this league making more than 5 mill a season.

Sullivan has absolutely no interest in a one year deal OR the Islanders. If he leaves Nashville, it's for a contender.

I think he signs a two or possibly three year deal with Pittsburgh for reasonable money.

I see him getting:

Anywhere from 2.25-4.25 million per year, on a deal that is anywhere from 1-3 years long.

Sully will have the best opportunity if he resigns with Nashville

I wouldn't blame him for re-signing with the Preds, but if he tests the market, this guy is perfect for the Sens IMO.

At the cup?

If his quest is to play for a winner before age/injury finally finish him off I think the Pens are a good bet.
What about the Wings if the don't get Hossa?

I could see him doing something like 1.5-3 to sign on a team like Detroit.

.

Well,

He better sign before July 6th because any Multi-year deal will handcuff the signing team should his back problems flare up again and he's forced to retire.

I'm not sure I see a significant commitment to him based on the back issues.

The back problems started in Feb 2007 and continued to limit his play from then, until January 09 (just about 2 full years)

If he signs with a contender it's on a one year deal for low $$'s. If he signes with an Islanders/Atlanta/Phoenix (or Winnipeg) type team (no offence guys) it's for 2-3 years at decent money.

Not sure he's eligable.

I was thinking he had to spend a certain amount of time on the LTIR to be eligable for that.

Playing in 41 games last year may not put him in that catagory.

I could be wrong though.

Recent talk makes me believe he'll be back in Nashville. He's the only UFA they're already talking contracts with.

This has been discussed at length on Nashville's fan boards. He's not eligible.

I could see him getting as much as 4 million.

He'll be on the Preds or a contender. Money likely won't make a big difference where he signs. He's the type of player that will pick a team he wants and sign what they offer.

60-70 point player but has the hands of a 1st liner. Would be a good fit on the 2nd line on a good team.

From what I've heard Sullivan really picked it up over the last month or so of the season and was a ppg player, right? Obviously the injury concerns are very real and will weight heavily on any GM's considering to make him an offer, but I'm happy for him that he had some success last season.

He's a pretty dynamic offensive player, but how is he in his own end? I'd have to wager that his size is a detriment defensively and when trying to win pucks on the boards. Anyone that sees him play a lot have any insight?

Agreed.

He can play on the left wing with Spezza and Heatley. Ofcourse, Heatley would have to switch to right wing, but he played that position in ATL and for Team Canada in '08.
