Rick Tocchet signed a two-year deal as the head coach for Tampa Bay.

Personally im happy with this, the players liked and respected him and he changed a lot, too bad we got the injuries coming but with a proper camp it should be good.

Anyway, good move for everyone. Tocchet is still my favorite hockey player of all-time, and he seems to be a fantastic coach. I know I'm jealous that we're still stuck with Wayne Gretzky's worthless ass and you guys got our real coach. The decent one.

As for the signing, I am happy we did a 2 year deal. It puts the entire staff on the same timeline, and allows them to basically have a "tryout year, with full coaching support". If they don't like the direction, they simply move another one. I think this will pan out quite well for Tampa in the long run. Congrats Toc!

It's become absolutely absurd, the level of criticism that comes with every single move Tampa makes. You guys could trade Jason Ward for a 2nd round pick at the draft, and there would be 4 pages worth of thread on it, all filled up with people moaning about how incompetant everyone in the Lightning organization is. It really has become ridiculous the way these kids around here talk about Tampa.

Congrats to Tocchet getting a new deal, he deserves it. He was one of my all-time favourite Flyers and I would have liked to see him as the coach of Philly but it didn't happen. Hopefully the Bolts keep their second overall pick to draft either Hedman or Taveras depending on what the Islanders do.
