Best of luck with the rally and here's to hoping there is a huge and energetic turnout.

As has been mentioned, having the rally but not having many show will put a huge new bullet in the propaganda gun of those that say the area doesn't care about hockey.

Not exactly the most self-beneficial decision by Westgate. Hopefully they'll reconsider.

I tried navigating the savethecoyotes page, but I'm not having any luck on a preliminary count of how many are attending.

Does anybody here know?

I've already expressed my concern and wow, this doesn't help at all. What the **** is Westgate thinking?!

My favorite part is that they consider this a political rally.

epic fail on Westgate's part. A political rally? People want to save a sports team, not elect someone. The stupidity of people continues to amaze me some times

I'm sure it's money, I bet if "savethecoyotes" brought cash to the table to rent the plaza space; Westgate management would be all over it.

Does anyone else have a bad feeling about potential lack of attendance.

Yes. I'm very worried. In fact, not to seem pessimistic but even if we get a good crowd out there in the blistering 100 degree heat, our critics will still say crap like, "In Canada, the streets would be closed and riots would ensue... you call THIS a rally?"

Not to say we shouldn't do it but I think at this point our ability to make an impression on our critics (which happen to include a lot of local folks, unfortunately) is rather limited.

Holy hell I just read the azcentral.com article about Westgate not allowing the rally. Um, why? Politics? The team we are holding a rally for is the one who paid for your g**damn "mall!" No offense to anyone, but this is downright "short bus" nonsense. No, let's not allow a rally at the arena because we have our heads so far up our butt that if we pull them out, the light will blind us. That's basically the argument I got from that article...nonsensical BS. Idiots.

Wouldn't the rally bring business to Westgate? I planned on going and getting some lunch and a few drinks while I was there. Now, I think I'll just be immature about it all and poop in the fountain. "Rally this!" That should attract some attention.

In all seriousness, what can they do to stop a rally? Call the police? Would that be considered a riot or protest at that point? I don't see why we can't all show up wearing our white out t-shirts and simply dine at a few restaurants. That would send a message too.

Check the third post of this thread, I'm definitely worried.

This is actually not that bad of an idea. What if we all showed up to eat, drink and be merry at the same time? Would they turn us away?

Exactly. Could we just show up at a few of the restaurants, civilly of course, and ask to be seated to eat? Imagine the response we would get from people shopping and eating if they saw a few thousand (fingers crossed) dressed in all white just eating and and stuff. We don't have to have a rally but they certainly can't refuse to serve us on the grounds of a hosting a "political rally." At least, I don't think so.

I thought the idea of a rally is a bunch of people yeling and waiving Coyotes flags and styrofoam fingers while bands play and media hype the crowd through loudspeakers.

I didn't think it was a bunch of people dressed the same and eating chicken wings.

I think rallys are more for the fans to not feel helpless, I don't think they do much otherwise. Just ask the people who flooded the streets in Winnipeg, didn't matter a bit and no way we'll be able to produce a rally like that, especially with expected 100 degree temps!

Not trying to be a downer, just being realistic.

Don't panic... the miscommunication was mainly that we shouldn't have used the words West Gate City Center (man I hope I don't get busted for that) as the exact venue LOL we should have said in the Glendale area or in close proximity to the arena or something of that nature until the finalization of the venue. We suck (not like any of us have ever done this before nor do we have billion dollar lawyers to tell us stuff). Sighhh trial and error sux. But we ARE rallying, 1060 will be broadcasting, we will wave signs, hear a couple of dorky coalition folks (meaning people like me) give some speeches, hopefully we will have some important people talk too, some of you may even be interviewed. Then we can invade the restaurants (especially Native New Yorker since they are being so gracious) for food and drinks out of the heat. We will have showed our support at this first rally and after we win the court battle we can have a really insane celebration rallies afterwards.

No matter how big or how small this thing ends up (and with all the coverage and responses, it feels like its got some serious potential), I feel better knowing I did everything humanly possible to support my boys and if things should go sideways, I can at least say I was there for them.
