Sharks-Oilers

To San Jose:
Tom Gilbert
Ethan Moreau
2nd round pick

To Edmonton:
Patrick Marleau

San Jose gets a replacement for Rob Blake, and a banging winger who can step up during the playoffs, and a minor asset in a deep draft.

Edmonton gets a sniping winger to play with Hemsky, but he is a year away from Free-Agency.

Not enough for Marleau. Change the 2nd to the 1st and now you have something workable.

Even if you make it a 1st the Sharks couldn't do it. Too many cap problems in 2010-2011

Michalek (4.3)- Thornton (7.2)- Seto (~3.5)
Clowe (~3)- Pavelski (~3)- Cheechoo (3)
Moreau (2)- Mitchell (1)- McGinn (1)
McLaren (.475)- Goc (1)- x (.5)
x (.5)

Boyle (6.67)-Murray (2.5)
Vlasic (3.1)- Petrecki (1.1)
Ehrhoff (3.1)-Gilbert (4)
Joslin (1)

Total= 52 million with no goalies. The cap could be as low as 50 that year. Pretty dangerous.

Marleau has a cap-hit of 6.3 million for next year. So the Sharks would actually be shedding .3 million in the deal - not adding salary.

Yes but he comes off the books next year. And I would rather spend 6 mill at forward than 4 mill at d, because we already have our top 3 d-men, Murray, Petrecki, and Moore. I believe that if Marleau is kept, Doug will look to do a Zetterberg like deal with him (although I think 5.5 per over 7 years would be more fair).

Also, Travis Moen can do a good deal of what Moreau does, and I don't think he will cost 2 million.

Sorry, I missed the part where you referred to next year. My bad.

Don't think it's enough to land Marleau. San Jose would probably want one of Chorney/Jeff Petry included

Change it to Cogliano Gilbert and a 2nd for Marleau.

This gives SJ a face lift at forward and a top end d-man to boot.

Edm gets a shoot first forward with size to play with hemsky.
