I don't think that was a shot; both these clubs wanted a piece of the other, not out of a feeling of superiority. To be the best, you need to play the best. They get up for games against one another.
Case in point: Many Caps fans wanted Pittsburgh and/or Philly at some point of the playoffs. It wasn't because they felt either team was poor, but that they're old Caps rivals. You want to beat your demons, you want to play the best.
And hell, everyone in the league wanted to see this series, sooner or later.
