The team, though? Different story. There's a lot of anger and frustration here. If the Caps win tonight, I think we'll be slightly more amicable. Another loss to the Pens, though, and you can forget it.
To be frank, i couldn't care less about pens fans. The actual penguins though, i ****ing hate. Always will.

This series is playing out very similar to the Wings-Ducks. The Wings are dominating puck possession and their forecheck is constantly disrupting the Ducks breakout. And that series is now somehow going to 7. I really hope the Caps are able to adjust some of their weaker areas for this game but I doubt it given it hasn't happened yet. Whether it is the players or coaching or some combination of both is a decision for the Caps to decide in the offseason. It just doesn't look like it can change now at the 11th hour.

For this game we can only hope for the continued favor of good fortune, great goaltending, and good finishing.

Totals for playoffs
Varly 2.28 .925 2 SO's
Fleury 2.78 .901 no SO's.

The Pens have played slightly better on the ice but the goaltending has been better for the Caps by a wide margin. In fact three goalies who are no longer even in the playoffs still have better numbers than Fleury.

So Fleury will need to step way way up for them to steal this game away.

Another way to look at it is that MAF has only played ordinary and the Caps have still barely scraped out their wins. If he stands on his head this game the Caps are in trouble given the Pens other advantages.

I certainly rooted for Philly in the last round.

That series was a tough one. I'd say I was rooting for the Pens to lose, but not necessarily rooting for the Flyers to win...if that makes any sense. I mean, I wanted vengeance on the Pens but there was no way I could root for them.

Is it weird to be nervous for a hockey game I have zero control over?

All I want to do is nap until I have to leave for the game, but I won't, because I'm terrified of sleeping through it.

Gah! I started the playoffs with bargain beer so I have to continue with it until the end of the playoffs. Gotta pick up another sixer of PBR on the way home.

Mornings after games have not been pleasant for anyone around here.

Through this 'rivalry', I have came to realize a few things: Just because the media wants there to be a big rivalry, doesn't mean we have to fall into chaos if our team loses.

I'm a Penguins fan and you're a Capitals fan. Why does that mean we can't be friends? Is it because Ovechkin isn't a Penguin fan, and Sidney Crosby isn't a fan of Ovechkin?

We gnaw at each other back and forth and I for one am tired of taking part in it.

Win or lose, the best team won. If you guys win, great, I'll be happy for you guys and hope you guys can knock out the Red Wings for me. If we win, so be it. You guys have a great team, and if you lose, think of it like this:

A recent poll has voted the 2009 Washington/Pittsburgh series as the best series of all time. Also, with a 1 or 2 goal margin of victory tonight, it is also statistically the closest series of all time.

As a Penguins fan, I'm just happy I was able to witness this. As a Capital's fan, you guys should be two. We get to watch two great teams battle it out in what is arguably the best series of all time. The loser will not walk the walk of shame, but walk with head held high by being beaten by the better team.

What say you? Can we put some animosity aside and enjoy some hockey? I don't see why we can't.
That's a solid post. I agree...Maybe you're one of the few, but most Pens posters annoy me...that's probably why I've been banned, warned and don't have an avatar! Whoever win, the other team can't say they didn't bring it this series.

That's normal...I hope, because I feel the same way.

On another note, it's awesome that this GDT is already 6 pages long and still 2 hours till game time.

I still don't understand why I got points a few weeks ago. I tried to find out why and just got deathly silence, so that pretty much answered the "should I bother renewing being a sponsor?" question I've been battling recently.
