Quite probably. But it was of his own initiative. And like I said before, it probably helped his stamina a lot too, as the rink's surfaces are much bigger.

He did need to improve on his foot speed, but I felt he needed to get stronger physically and improve on his defensive play, which imo is his biggest weakness as he can move the puck well and has good offensive instincts especially on the PP.

Do we have his updated weight?

Good move to sign Benoit! Hopefully he has a chance to take Brisebois's spot! He would be great on the PP!

Subban and Weber might be up on the depth chart but the at their age they will need a bit of experience down below!

If Benoit improved the past 2 years, and at his age (25) I think he could be a lock the 6th roster spot!

He finished 2nd Defensement in scoring in the finish league 2 years ago!
Anssi Salmela (another D on his team) is now playing full time NHL with ALT.

Its true, he might not have defensive skills like Komi but I don't think he can be much worts than Brisebois!

Anyway, thats my 2 cents

Brisebois still having a spot is unsure regardless of which defense man we sign this summer IMHO.

I think it's more likely that Benoit is there to fight with O'Byrne, Weber, Carle & Subban. The "in-between NHL & AHL" group.

Jancevski is leaving. Anderson and Kemp too. I believe that Janik will sign in Europe and Henry will try to find another AHL team.

I hope that Belle will be back next year. He is a RFA so I expect the Habs to keep him.

I expect Webber to make the Habs so the Dogs might look like :

Subban-Benoit
Belle-Carle
UFA-UFA
Paquet-St.Denis

Benoit doesn't count as a veteran so we have room to add 2 AHL veteran.
I hope that we sign Paquet, he could battle St-Denis for the 7th spot on the team.
