This may be the worst team, at this point in time, that the Caps have played in a month or more.

The Rangers were in a serious funk, too, although they had home ice to help spark them.

No comparison when it comes to controversy, though, with the whole Kovalev situation. That has to be a big distraction for everyone at a time when their focus hasn't been great as it is. You've got to think there are going to be yet more somewhat serious changes to their roster over the next two weeks.

Get to them and get to them early.

Honestly the lineup wouldn't look half-bad:

Ovechkin - Backstrom - Kozlov
Semin - Fedorov - Kovalev
Flash - Laich - Fehr
Bradley - Steckel - Brashear

That second line would be sick....

Damn. This game would interest me a lot, but can't really watch it. Why are the most interesting games always during the week... (7:30PM over there means 2:30AM here)

I don't really care how big they win as long as they win, but voted for "by two or more"

Honestly, Kovalev is not the kind of influence the Capitals need in their dressing room.

this is exactly the reason we will prolly play like ass and the game will be way too close. Caps fail when it come to playing against "weaker" teams.

Actually...from everything I've ever read or heard, Kovalev is a decent teammate...just goes through the motions from time to time with his game.

If Gainey would deal Kovalev for Nylander (and a throw in pick perhaps)...well...I don't think you think twice about it. The room will take care of it's self....but I don't see adding him causing any major problems with the existing unit.

Sure is going to be an interesting game to watch. Nothing easy for the Caps though, because Montreal is going to come in primed to work hard.

Regarding Kovalev, he would not be looked upon to lead on this team, and I think he'd be fine as a 2nd line piece. Doesn't really matter, even to contemplate this, Mtl would have to take Nylander.. which they'd be crazy to do. But GMGM should try, anyway..

Maybe that's why Nylander was scratched last game because Montreal and Washington were in talks for a trade, and since they haven't finalized it, Kovalev is being benched -- only way we'll know is if Nylander is benched tonight too.

Meh. Fedorov could easily keep him in check, I think, as Kovy's not really a bit time personality. He just has effort issues and he clearly wouldn't be the top dog here so the situation might not be as tense as it is now in Montreal.

Not that anything would happen, mind you, it just wouldn't be the worst if it could.

5-2 Caps.

Montreal comes out smoking, but 2 early goals for the Caps put out the fire. EN at the end starts Greens new goal scoring streak.

Just effing win.

Oh, and go Canes. Three SE teams would be great!

Tarik wrote an article on Fehr, so expect him to go cold. Hopefully Flash can pick up the goal scoring load for the FFF line.
