He's the right kind of player the Caps need. Hopefully he can stay injury free.

Yeah, he could join the Bears on an ATO, but I don't think they're going to do so since they haven't already.

Hopefully he'll be as good as his father. Kid looks good but injuries do scare me and he is gonna be needed in the future after a couple players are off the roster in D.C (Federov).... lol hope he doesn't dip out for austria hockey either

He should wear daddy's old number so people can wear their retro jerseys to the games and look current.

But wait a minute 16 is already being worn... think anyone would trade a bag of pucks and a roll of tape for the guy currently wearing 16?

Signed,
Coulda had Getzlaf

That's been the plan since he was drafted, so I imagine no news = no change in plans.

Then again, any change in plans might not be made until one of the camps anyways.

Do people still think he will be second line material? I mean he is still an enigma to me.

I will be happy if he turns out to be a Brooks Laich.

I'm looking forward to the reports from the locals come the prospect camp. And for the love of God I hope he doesn't get re-injured.

I'll be there every day, and I'm really looking forward to finally seeing the guy. I excited to watch him, SDR, and Broda (and I'm sure a few guys from the draft).

God I love working for the government.

It sounds like he did pretty well in the playoffs at the SEL level, so with luck that means he's past the back issues and will be able to participate in camp seriously.

yea throw in I hope he also is fit so the herbies don't kill him. I'd be interested in hearing from you guys about the difference in Perreault's fitness in one year later as well.

Do the prospects in Hershey take part in development camp? I can't remember from last year.

I believe it's usually for first year pro's or those still in junior, college, etc

Here's the roster from last season....

http://capitals.nhl.com/team/app?art...e&service=page

Usually a few 2nd year guys that might have played sparingly with the Bears or Stingrays the prior season.

if i recall correctly, Gus 2.0 was billed a skilled 2 way center with good size, plays physically and has hockey smarts... i don't know how much his back injury derailed him, but if he is playing top tier in the SEL this next season and has even moderate success, then his future in the NHL is pretty close.

from what i recall the biggest question mark around the draft was the extent of his injury... this upcoming season will surely tell us.

if he tops out as a Pahlsson-esque player, or perhaps another Laich, i will be ecstatic. if he becomes a younger, cheaper Boyd Gordon / Steckel he will draw ire for his 21st overall but still be a valuable member of the team.

Don't hold your breath on him getting a lot of ice time for Frölunda. He's like our No. 6 centerman. It's possible that he could beat someone out for a winger spot on the 4th line, but even that's a stretch at this point.

Honestly...if that's the case...get his injured ass in Hershey.
