GDT: Dallas at Edmonton, March 24

vs.
Dallas Stars at Edmonton Oilers - Rexal PLACE 10:00pm ET

Here we go boys. We are on the verge of one of the greatest playoff drives in the history of the NHL. Standing in our way are our nemesis, the Dallas stars, who we play twice down the stretch. Will the Dallas domination end in a blaze of Oiler glory?

I BELIEVE!!!!

OILERS STATS (8th in Western Conference)
Points Ryan Smyth 54
Goals Ryan Smyth 21
Assists Ryan Smyth 33
+/- Radek Dvorak 18
PIM Georges Laraque 97
Wins Ty Conklin 15
GAA Ty Conklin 2.38
SV% Jussi Markkanen .916
Power Play Pct. 12.54% (29th)
Penalty Kill Pct. 87.46% (28th)
Goal Differential +1.06 (15th)

Last ten games: 6-0-2-2

STARS STATS (4th in Western Conference)

Points Bill Guerin 64
Goals Bill Guerin 32
Assists Jason Arnott 36
+/- Jason Arnott 25
PIM Steve Ott 150
Wins Marty Turco 35
GAA Ron Tugnutt 1.95
SV% Ron Tugnutt .913
Power Play Pct. 16.23% (17th)
Penalty Kill Pct. 83.77% (3rd)
Goal Differential +1.13 (11th)

Last ten games: 6-2-2-0

Well, if there ever was a great chance to beat Dallas, tonight is it. If reports are to be believed, Arnott, Barnes, Young, Lethinen, Numinen, Zubov and Klemm are all injured. On the Oilers side, the team is rolling and the players and the fans should be full of playoff intensity. While the stars (no pun intended) seem to be alligning, there is no such thing as a certain victory. And when we are playing Dallas, that statement is even more true. However, we've played very well against the Stars this year, and if it wasn't for a horrible meltdown, we'd be leading the season series two games to none. An important underlying story is the fact that a Dallas-Edmonton playoff match up is starting to become a real possibility. Good luck boys.

EDIT: I shamelessly ripped USC Trojans format (hey, it's given us plenty of luck so far!).

It would be nice

to go 3 up on Stl for 8th even if they had 2 GIH. Let them see what it's like to have to treat every game as a playoff game and to be perpetually under the gun.

Let's see if they won't falter even against a team like Ana. We know the Oilers had nailbiting home games vs the Yotes and BJ's.

Dal isn't a great road team and all of a sudden the Oilers are a great home team. We can beat Dallas at home, for sure.

I wish the first of the 2 dallas games were in dallas instead of Edm, that way we would be responsible for snapping that 14 game home win streak.

edit: just checked thier sched - thier next home game IS against the oil.

Whooooooooo-ahhhhhhhh-ahhhhhhhhhh-ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

Zubov got hurt tonight vs. the Lames, and Lehtinen didn't make the trip. They are ripe for the pickings. Plus, the Oilers are absolutely dominating. It's a snow ball right now, just keep it rolling downhill!!

Dallas has played really well of late. And Marty Turco has returned to last year's form when he almost won the Vezina. It's going to take a gutsy effort... There is absolutely no room for errors. I hope the Oilers say this mantra every night before they go to bed: Win and you're in. That's all they have to do and they better be focused. It's so tight, every game is like an adrenaline rush.

Anaheim faces Nashville tomorrow I think. It would be nice if the Oilers could get some help. A nice 2 game win streak from Anaheim against Nashville and the Blues sure would help.

"I love kicking @ss or chewing bubble gum, and right now, I'm all out of gum"

Lets give Dallas HELL boys! Sure hope that Bergy helps morrow kiss the ice again. I predict a 6-2 thumpin'

ya, Go Ducks go! (I'm suprised some idiot hasn't tried to make the arguement that Lowe isn't a good GM because if he would have taken the Ducks deal then Comrie would be helping the Ducks in those games now)

I want to see the big boys get into this game, Chimera and Izzy.

No way do I want to see the Stars get the lead and then crank their boring crap style into underdrive, if they do get the lead I want to see wave after wave of big, fast, angry Oilers bearing down on their defensemen as they try and retrieve the puck from along the wall. Torres, Izzy, Chimera, and Moreau all have enough speed and strength to get in there and make 'em pay, and Dallas has some small defensemen who log lots of icetime (Numinnen and Sweeney). Maybe they'll start coughing up the puck when they hear footsteps.

Let's go boys, knock the tar out of them and send them to off to Van with their tails between their legs. When teams come into Rx place they should feel like they're sticking their heads into a beesnest.

Rx ROX!!!!

Let's make FAN Night, a memorable one, anyone going to the game should take a "WE BELIEVE" sign with you. If we get enough of them out there, we can give the Marketing dep't something to market come playoff time.

Oilers are on a tear that even I as a Stars fan enjoy following. I hope they make it, they play attractive hockey and I feel that no team would like to face the Oilers in the first round right now, noone.

Either way, the Stars just lost Zubov after already missing Numminen. Add that with Jere Lehtinen, Scott Young and John Erskine and there are holes that are impossibly to fill. The Oilers wil be so motivated for this game, I expect them to come out flying, agressive, playing playoff hockey.

DAL 0 - 3 EDM (Smyth, Nedved, Hemsky)

If you're talking about 'They Live', I believe it was Roddy Piper who said that. Richard Dean Anderson wasn't anywhere near that movie.
