Nashville - Ottawa

From Nashville

Shea Weber

From Ottawa

Dany Heatley

Nashville seriously needs help scoring. Ottawa seriously needs defensive help. Plus Heatley just finished the most expensive year of his contract ($10 million).

I dont know if it works for fans of both sides. Depends on what people think. Some people will say Weber is more valuable and Ottawa needs to throw in something or vice vera. Id say its tempting from both sides but if i was an ottawa fan, id be pretty inclinded to say deal...

From the Sens perspective I would have to say deal. But in all honesty Nashville can't afford his salary

I'd do this from Ottawa. But I'd assume we'd have to add more.

It is going to cost more than Weber for a 40+ goals scorer.

Weber, Jones ans Tootoo for Heatly

Maybe something like this to balance it out?
Quote:
Weber, Erat, 1st

Heatley, Foligno

Murray says yes so fast Poile's ears explode and Murray has to pay the medical bills

Weber is a franchise defenseman (or soon to be one), Heatley is the most overrated, lazy, selfish player in the league

We also shed 3M in salary for the next 3 years, done so fast

If salary was not an issue, I would do this in a heartbeat, but we cannot afford Heatley under just about any circumstance except if Freeman takes out a loan from a shady man in a Bronx alleyway for $35M.

Here is a list of franchise Ottawa D men better than Weber:

Char.... oops. nevermind.

Salary cap world, people, salary cap world. Weber is far better than Heatley in a salary-matters world.

Zing.

I think Heatley for Weber straight up would resemble the Boyes-Wideman deal. It satisfies both team's needs.

Wrong.

Here are our NHL-ready defensemen for next season:

Kuba, Phillips, Lee, Volchenkov, Picard, Campoli, J. Smith, Bell, Schubert, and maybe E. Karlsson.

That is far too many, and we need to subtract. As great as Weber is, we need to add forwards, not defensemen.

Did you know that our team was top 5 in the NHL in scoring under Clouston? Hmm.. I guess you didn't.

Right. I forgot about the non-existent depth up front.

Yes, because we'll have a forward crop that can't score and 4 NHL-ready defensemen as healthy scratches. That'll work well.

Foligno - Spezza - Alfredsson
Regin - Fisher - Shannon
Zubov - Comrie - Donovan
Ruutu - Winchester - Bass

Do you know how terrible that forward lineup is? We need our superstar winger. This trade doesn't work for the Senators.

So how does the Kuba extension work if they need to get rid of defensemen?
