OT: The Vet is gone

As the dust is taken by the wind over Citizen's Bank Park, Veterans Stadium, a staple of Philadelphia over the past 33 years, will be reduced to a 55,000 space parking lot. In time, when people do down to see an Eagles, Phillies, Flyers or Sixers game it won't take an hour and a half to get onto I-95 or I-76

Unlike the joy I got from watching Chris Therien leave, I am saddened by the Vets demise. Lots of great memories, but as they say, "The show must go on..."

I'm glad we got to be cherished with some great play by the Eagles and Phillies in their last seasons at the Vet.

Here's to continuous success at both Citizens Bank Park and Lincoln Financial Field.

Too bad they couldn't have blown the Vet up with Chris Therien in it.

I saw my very first baseball game at the Vet. The vet will be missed even with all of its imperfections.

I was there at 6:30 am on the river in Gloucester City New Jersey to see the Vet come down.

it happened fast because we only could see the one side that was facing us. there was alot of oohs and ahhs and the people gave the Vet a nice ovation after it was down.

I guess it was kinda like saying thank you and goodbye at the same time.

here's to a successful future in our new sporting facilities.

I really thought something was going to go wrong considering the history of this crappy city.

Other than that I really don't care.

95% of the city is a dump. Maybe 5% is nice.

I'm from Abington.

Abington...... ...............Trash....

You clearly know nothing about the city if you think 90% of it is a dump. Maby 15 years ago that statment would have been correct but since Rendell took office, the city is a completly different.

I don't know what parallel universe you're living in but have the Flyers won a cup in the last 25 years there?

What are you talking about? What does the cup have to do with it?

Trashy, right... Considering the average household income in Abington is twice that of Philadelphia, what are you basing this on?

Flyers26, very good pictures, I think it is fitting that in the background of the rubble of the Vet, we see Citizen's Bank Park.

I have a decent Sony digital camera, nothing too fancy. I used a larger setting, to capture a large view of the Vet. Very surreal to see a place that I have been going to since the early 70's gone.
