As long as he's getting the minutes he was at the end of last year (when Cologne realized their season wasn't going anywhere/injury struck), it can't hurt to have him in a men's league, for sure. Probably be with the Marlies next year.

Rumor has it that the Leafs highest # this upcoming season will be 55. That is Blakes #. If I heard correctly, Grabovski will be switching to 54 as his old # is too high. Also, I believe Marlies will go up to 30. All this. compliments of Burk.

Wow, where'd you hear that? That seems quite drastic. I guess it will only affect grabo just thinkin off the top of my head. Seems weird that Burke would let Bozak wear 86 at the upper deck photo shoot, all his cards from that shoot will have the wrong number if that's the case.

Photoshop, all of these rookies or most of them at least don't have NHL numbers promised to them yet.

Grabo's not going to like that, he probably won't ever Pass the Puck now.

Strange, he wore 42 at the prospects camp. Why would he pick 86 just for the shoot? Seems like a number he chose, considering he's an 86 born and wouldn't be the first guy to pick their birth year as a number.

You never know though.

I may have slightly erred. The highest number will be 56 (maybe Woz is coming back). The Marlies I heard was 29, but I have a hard time believeing that they wouldn't give 30 to a goalie.
Believe what you will, only time will tell. I think its a little far fetched to come out with stuff like this without a solid source.

Flaake has been assigned to the Fischtown Penguins which is a second division team affiliated with Cologne.

I read an article on the DEL site that stated Flaake could be assigned to the second tier league but has he actually been assigned? He had a great 2nd half last year and I would see no reason for him to be sent down.

I'm pretty disappointed that Cologne would send him down a tier when they refused to grant him a release to play in the WHL or AHL.

I hope that they've sent him down to work on a weakness of his and then plan on bringing him back up in the next few weeks. I'm not even sure if that's how it works in Europe.

**** that pisses me off. The only way him staying over there was a good thing, was if he was playing against the best possible competition. They won't let him go, and now they won't let him develop in the best league possible, plain ridiculous. I bet Flaake and Germany's international reps aren't to pleased, seeing as how they wanted him to go to the WHL in the first place.

Yes, thats bad news. I try to get information bout the reasons the next days...

Last night Jerome played his first game with Fischtown and scored a PP goal in a 4 - 2 win.

Yes, any and all updates will be much appreciated! Thanks for the info. Maybe he will get a chance to play in more situations on Fischtown?

Perhaps they just thought that if he is leaving after this season they're not interested in experiencing his growing pains.

Maybe. But a friend who visits every game at Cologne told me yesterday, that Jerome was used even in PP in the second half of last season and played on the first line with Dave McLlwain. Maybe the new coach Pawlow of Russia doesn´t like him.

Perhaps we'll see something happen like it did with Backlund, the Flames draft pick who left Sweden while still under contract to join the Rockets.

Yeah I don't get this Flaake situation either. Let the kid play or let him go. They know he's going to leave anyway why not just let him leave now?
