Could Pittsburgh/Detroit beat Orlando/Denver?

Since the Stanley Cup Finals are going against the NBA Finals for some games this year, does the NHL have a chance? The best possible final would probably be Pittsburgh and Detroit. Meanwhile the worst for the NBA would be Denver and Orlando. If there was to happen do you think the NHL could outrate the NBA?

Pittsburgh/Chicago would probably be just as good, actually. Better for the league, too, bringing Chicago up to an even higher level of hockey fever.

Short answer, no. The NBA will always beat the NHL in ratings, but the margin would be much closer in your scenario. You're probably looking at a 7 or 8 with Denver/Orlando, and optimistically a 3.5 for the Pitt/Chi or Det SCF. Maybe that moves up to a 4 with a good series.

My rule of thumb is that the NBA usually gets around four times the ratings of the NHL, with obvious margins of error. That brings up a point - does the NBA get too much coverage, or does hockey get too little? I know how everone here feels, but if you showed your average fan the numbers I wonder how they'd feel.
