Who would you rather go *poof*?

Carle or Jones? Assuming you received equal return for both, who would it be?

Ha, thought that question meant something entirely different?

For the record, Jones. At least Carle offers something.

To be entirely fair... should you have a third option; 'Neither' ?

Carle. Jone's contract goes away after next year anyway. Give Homer the space to sign Pronger, re-up Parent and Coburn and have the room to get or call up a couple of cheap grinders for the 3rd pairing and make whatever adjustments he needs to on the 3rd and 4th lines. If (when) the cap goes down, Jones's contract will be gone but Carle's could be the back breaker when trying to get some of these things done.

Depends on whether Pronger gets extended.

At this point, assuming that Pronger signs for four to five more, I'd say Jones... Both are now made excess, due to the Cap and Pronger -- although, in a perfect non-Capped NHL, both are fine in the six man group, taking reduced roles from what they were signed for -- and at ($) -- and being suitable safety nets for injuries to the other players... They do give the Flyers an uneven balance, but Homer does want a puck moving mobile D... which he now has in spades.

Carle can stay as the safety net, and hopefully build up better return value over the course of the season... That said, there is merit in the Jones has only one left and is cheaper scenario. Return could be a key, if it were to be different... which in all reality it would be, IMO.

Well, I voted Carle but only because there wasn't another option or 2 available. I wanted to see these 2 as options too:

3) Carle, but only if Pronger is resigned
4) Jones because Pronger is NOt resigning with us

If Pronger resigns then Carle MUST be dealt. We can't carry that's much money on our defense especially with Coburn and Parent needing new contracts next year too.

If Pronger is NOT going to be resigned then Jones is the one that MUST be moved this season. If we don't have Pronger resigned then we MUST keep Calre for our top 4 next season. We could dump Jones, sign lberts or another bottom pairing dman for about 1.5 mil and cut between 1-1.5 mil off our cap hit this season. With Prongers contract expiring after the season we'd have over 6.25 mil to resign any needed RFA's/UFA's that we wanted.

i like this. you have to see Prongers status and Timonen's age into account before we dump our Dmen.
