Newest Fantasy from 110%

The fine "journalists" of 110% are "reporting" (in other words they made it up) that Philly wants negotiating rights to Komisarek in return for the habs taking Briere off there hands. Discuss among yourselves.

Briere, even for free, requires Philly adding something. Maybe a 2nd and 3rd rounder.

Uh, I've read this rumour on here a few days ago.

We know what 110% sources are

And I don't want Briere.

Briere's contract would handcuff any team for years. The Flyers regret that signing badly. We dodged a bullet once....don't want to revisit Briere.

If we are taking on Briere's contract i'd want to give them one of our bigger ones in return, something like Hamrlik for Briere could make sense if we can re-sign Komisarek for a reasonable price and are able to acquire another top four defenceman or two...

But then again we need size down the middle and Briere doesn't help that out.

Briere's contract wouldn't be so bad if he was 27 or 28 years old but he's turning 32 in October, that's just terrible.

considering the injuries and his 6.5 million $ tag on the salary cap, there shouldn't be a long list of suitors for Brière. Unless of course some team trying to reach the salary floor bails out the Flyers. Even then, if they want ot get rid of him, the 110% guys are right imo, some picks need to be thrown in to sweeten the deal.

They are not journalists, they are reporters...

Journalists actually have work ethics.

Injuries aside, he is pretty much a PPG player. I dont know what all the fuss is about. He's also almost a ppg player in the playoffs. He earns the money he is a paid. Philly didnt make a bad signing, they mismanaged their cap, which is why they are looking to unload him (also because of the emergence of carter and richards). You can't deny that Briere is a #1 center. He doesnt fill our need for size, but he puts up points.

briere has talent but is small. i would take him but 1- he has a big ass contract. 2- he had the chance to come here two years ago and ditched us, so **** him and besides i doubt he would waive his ntc to come to mtl...

Briere's contract is a joke, dont wonder why Philly wanna get rid of him for nothing.. I dont think there is a GM crazy enough in this league willing to take that contract.. Briere is small and soft, exactly what we dont need.. 110% guys are all biased towards Quebecers no matter what is coming with, it doesnt fly very high, thats why they are on that pathetic show and not working somewhere in the NHL, Gainey isnt stupid enough to fail in that trap..

If Komisarek's gone no matter what, I'd explore if there's a way to craft a proposal with Philly to make Brière's awful contract more palatable.

if gainey can't get Komi's name on the dotted line prior to UFAgency, or doesn't believe he will, I'd be all over this deal like a fat kid on a smarty.

people need to get over the Briere hate. He may be small, he may have a big price tag, but he does two things really well that we currently lack:
- consistently puts up ppg production
- consistently shows up down the stretch and in the playoffs.

if we can land him without giving up anything (again, going on the idea that Komi makes it clear he's "testing the waters"), we'd be crazy not to.

I hate Brière has much as the next guy and I think he behaved like a little ***** with the Habs as a UFA, but I'd sign my worst enemy if I think he could help the club.

Briere + 1st for Komo's rights.

We then re-sign Komo, and trade Briere in a package for Vinny (I know this makes zero sense for the Lightning, but I don't care right now).

You should email that to TB's owners, they seem to be fans of bad moves.
