I know what your saying the problem with Deano is ... we never have a true idea what he is doing or looking for.. all we know are similar characteristics that make players " Dean players" .. I hope we land some form of scoring winger...

We do need winger, just not sure who would a) want to come to LA and b) be an effective goal scorer. There's not much available that is a realistic option for LA.

Johnson and Purcell for Drury would be close,
to add Zheredev I think the rangers would want to do

Drury and Z for Johnson and 1st 09

or Drury and Z for Johnson 2nd 09 + 02nd 2010

With all his flaws, Nikolai Zherdev is more important to the Rangers than Johnson would be, especially if we're to have faith in any of our prospects. We don't have any forwards with skill, we can't afford to give one up for a player who fits a niche that we should be able to fill from our own system.

Also, I don't see why the Kings need Drury when they have Handzus.

Those aren't bad at all. The only issue is, the Kings have more RW's than they know what do with. That's why I didn't propose a deal for Zherdev to begin with.

A deal based around Z and Johnson makes no sense for the Rangers unless LA over pays.

It's true, we don't need Drury.. We want Zherdev..

Johnson, Boyle, LA 1st

Zherdev, NYR 1st maybe a little more from NY.. I want to say Anisimov, but Rangers fans will get mad

I do think they share similar qualities. Brown likes to chase the hit more often than Callahan, but he makes up for it with his goal scoring abilities. Though, Callahan has a highly underrated wrister. He put it to good use this year.

I never proposed for the guy to begin with, so take him off the table. I'd do a deal for Drury, though.

A trade with Zherdev makes sense if the Rangers want to make a trade with their defense. If they trade Sauer + Sangs for a young forward or a pick then it would make sense. Also, if Zherdev doesnt fit with Torts then it makes sense because having Johnson and Staal + DZ, Girardi and the rest of the depth is a good thing. It allows a team to trade from a position of strength.

HAHA! You know us too well. Possibly a player like Dupont or Byers would make sense in a deal like that

Johsnon, Boyle, 1st 09

Zherdev, Byers, 1st 09

So, who plays the badly needed LW position, after aquiring yet another RW? We don't need a 20ish goal scoring RW, man, we need a LW, or a guy that shoots from the left.

Dealing for Zherdev after aquiring Williams makes ZERO sense.

I would trade Zherdev for Johnson if it meant swapping our first rounder for LA's, but there is no way the Kings are going to do that.

.

What's with this sudden hate for Jack Johnson?

He's still JUST 22 years old.

I'd do Callahan for Johsnon in a heartbeat.

I love Callahan, but the thought of having JJ, Staal, Del Zotto and Girardi along with Sangs and Gilroy as my top 6 on D is pretty impressive.

Mobile, skilled and physical is a nice combination.

Some of the same things that have been said in this thread were also mentioned about Cam Barker...he's turned out just just fine.

We all know Justin Williams will get injured again.. After Williams' injury, the Zherdev trade will look genius

Tweak the deal if need be. I'm not sure what NY needs, be it roster guys, prospects, or picks.
Done.

I think that Gomez would be easier to move, though (and I also think he's the better player of the two).

Johnson, Boyle

Zherdev, 3rd 09
Definitely not interested in Boyle. I don't think he has the hockey sense to be much more than a 3rd line center.

If we're giving up Zherdev, we need some legitimate offensive talent coming back.

We love Jack Johnson, but there's been rumors out there that are saying he wants out and he's not happy with the Kings. His dad called SKA St. Petersburg's head coach, Barry Smith to see if he was interested in Jack, which IMO is tampering since it's not even July 1st yet.. Barry Smith said that he can make Jack Johnson a better hockey player..

Which is why that swap of firsts works so well for us because we can draft a gamebreaker for once.

We have lots of re-signing to do in the next couple off-seasons, including Frolov, Quincey, Quick, etc.

Third line for Brown? Wow. I thought Williams got injured again?

I like your proposed D, though. It's nice to see a fellow Kings fan gets the fact that OD will retire next year(probably) and we'll need an immediate replacement.
