If we're giving up Zherdev, we need some legitimate offensive talent coming back.
You can select MSP or Evander Kane with the 5th overall, I think those guys are legit offensive talent, no?.. And we'll have to settle for Carter Ashton, Zack Kassian or Jordan Schreoder (doubt he'll drop to 19th)

Do you think the Kings are going to drop from 5th to 19th to get Zherdev? I don't see it happening. I'd GLADLY do the Zherdev/1st for Johnson/1st deal, though. That would be a HUGE deal for the Rangers. We'd probably be able to come away with MSP, which would be exactly what we need.

Ah. The one I responded to didn't have the first rounders in it. If we're swapping firsts, I'd be much happier.

Exactly my thought. The Rangers need to mold this team around Torts. Tough, hard-nosed hockey. Not only is JJ more molded into that type of team, but that 1st rounder from LA would allow for that process to continue. Also clears some cap space to sign Antropov.

I like your proposed D, though. It's nice to see a fellow Kings fan gets the fact that OD will retire next year(probably) and we'll need an immediate replacement.
You know TM switches his lines throughout the game anyways, but I'd rather have Brown with Stoll..
Our first line would just be incredible, wow.. I guess we can put Brown on the 2nd line and Williams on the 3rd..

Do you think Trevor Lewis will crack the lineup next year?

Frolov-Kopitar-Zherdev

I'm falling inlove..

Anisimov wouldnt be part of the deal. Its too much offensive talent going the other way. Would have to be someone like Dupont/Byers

NO, and why do you want to trade Johnson. He's only 22. Why do you want to drop out of the 5th spot?

I think the only way Johnson and the 5th pick get moved is if the Kings are trading for Kovalchuck, Malkin, Heatly....etc.

Deal?
No with Anisimov.

Take out him and you could take out either Purcell or Boyle if you want them and make the main deal Johnson and a 1st for Zherdev and a 1st. A lower tier prospect like Byers I can live with trading. Or a guy like Chris Doyle (QMJHL kid with lots of offensive potential but lots of bust potential, also).

What about that line? I don't see Trev grabbing one of the spots next year, but I think he'll be up once or twice again.

I'm not sure if other Rangers fans would agree, but I say yes to this.

I'd love to see Hossa signed by the Kings and play on our first line, but the problem is we'd have to pursue him immensely, and I don't see DL doing that.. I'm scared we might have to settle for Gaborik or Havlat..

I don't see the Kings making a trade for a winger, actually. I think they're probably going to get Gaborik.

Sold.

I was just about to counter with:

Rozsival
Zherdev
Rangers 1st
Rangers 2nd 2010

Williams
Johnson
LA 1st

From what I've heard, LA fans aren't fond of Williams and his injuries. Rozsival gives you a veteran on the back-end and evens out the salaries a little.

To be honest though, I think the Rangers win most of these trades big time.

Mobile, skilled and physical is a nice combination.
I think you'd be in the minority among Ranger fans on this one. There's no way I would do that trade. We don't need defense, we need scoring. Trading from an area of weakness to improve an area of strength is never a good idea.

Callahan skates well, does the dirty work, throws his body around, kills penalties, scores goals and he brings it every shift.

In the 21 regular season games after Torts took over, Callahan had 9 goals and 8 assists and was a +6. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him top 30 goals next season.

If that deal came to me as the Rangers GM I would jump all over it. Not because I think it isnt fair value-wise, its just that it kills two birds with one stone. The team becomes bigger and stronger and adds some talent.

not a fan of Zherdev. no consistancy, plays small. NYR will have a hard time re-signing this guy, Callahan, Dubinsky and Staal due to cap restraints, so give it tme and he may be cheaper if thats who you really want.

I like Callahan but NYR is not going to move a cheap good player and JJ is worth more then Callahan, and I am a Callahan fan.

I cant see the 2 teams being good partners.

I'll do the deal, without Rozsival though.. I know you guys want to dump his contract, but the Kings won't want it..

Jack Johnson will be a King in the end and Ryan Callahan will be a Ranger.. Same as for Zherdev

You're probably right. In addition to that gigantic risk, I could see them even trying swing a deal for Vinny, which would be totally insane and more ballsy than I've ever seen our GM be in his tenure with the Kings.

I think if Vinny gets traded, it's going to be to one of the Kings, Habs, Rangers, or Canucks.

The Habs would have to not sign a good chunk of their UFA's to handle Vinny's contract and I don't see the Nucks committing to it, either. The Rangers could do it, though, especially if Gomer is moved.
