You know, its strange because I heard the same very rumour that the Sedins are a done deal from a current client of mine that works for IMG. He pretty much said the deal is done at 5.7Mil/per come July 1st.

He's also said that we should know whats up with "The Monster" by the end of the weekend and that he's been here recently checking out the city and meeting with team reps.

Not sure how reliable your source is, but 5.7mil for each of the twins is a steal!

Get it done Burke.

I'm all for bringing in the sisters.

im fine with bringing in the sedins if the price and term is reasonable.

Heck, stick Blake on a line with them and he might hit 40 again

I never understood why people didn't like the Sedins. They hold the puck so well, they would be dominant in the east and could take advantage of the weaker defensive teams. I would be ecstatic to have them in Toronto.

I love the Sedins, I think they play a very similar game to Marc Savard, only they are much bigger.

I'd be amazed if he pulled that off. I think they'll get offered at least that from Vancouver though.

Why would the Sedins take 5.7? They'll get a bigger offer from Vancouver.

I was thinking the same, I think Gillis has already offered them 6 million over 3-5 years. (According to Sportsnet anyways - and they turned that down)

Maybe they just want to play in Toronto

First, the endorsement dollars in TO would be huge and make up the difference easily.

Second, Burke arranged for them to get to play together a long time ago. There would be some loyalty to him.

It makes sense.

never make a deal with J.P. Barry. He gets his players wonderous contracts that they don't deserve.

Is Barry the agent of the Twins

That guy is a moron, but hey...most agents are.

Burke won't take his crap, and i'm sure Burke will try to do most of the dealing with the twins themselves....thats if he tries to sign them.

J.P. Barry with Sundin:
He's a top 5 center in this league. He deserves 7 million. He's was worth no more than 5 million in my eyes.

Yup, i remember that...

heck...i can't say we all wouldn't overvalue our clients....look at us in our hockey draft ....lol

but still....Barry is part of the reason the salary cap isn't working, and good teams like Boston, Chicago and the Pens will eventually have to break up..because good players are becoming over-paid again...not star player, but 2nd and 3rd line guys are looking for 4+ mil.

Not a big fan of the Sedins myself. Don't even have a logical argument to back up the dislike, either. I just feel they lack something.

So how does Burke add 18 million to the payroll?

So is the general feeling that the Sedins want more than $6 million each per season? I'd love to see these guys on Toronto's roster (they're way safer bets than Gaborik and Cammalleri, and better players than Cammalleri IMO), but I'm worried about us being handicapped by not one but two big contracts if these guys turn out to be busts in TO.

I don't see why we would sign the Sedins when they are highly ineffective in the playoffs. This would be a very dumb move. I rather sign a skilled player like Marian Gaborik and get Zherdev. Gaborik has proved himself in the playoffs (except 1 year with 1 point in 6 games, but come on, he is playing on a defensive team). I might be wrong for choosing Zherdev, but I think he would be a good 2nd liner. 7 mill for Gabs, 3 for Zherdev.

would Zherdev be a 1st line player on this team? i still think 3 million is pretty good for a 2nd line player.
