This is NOT a Daganais bahing thread. I hate him just as much as anybody else that plays like crap, but its not worth bashing the guy on a regular basis.
Anyways i just want to know how many of you actualy like Daganais.
Me, I dont like him at all (as a hockey player of course)

im not annoyed with him yet cause he wasnt even expected to be as good as he is now. his skating has to improve though. if he is going to be on the team next year and doesnt do something about his skating in the off-season, then i will be annoyed but even more annoyed with the coaching and management for allowing this guy a spot on the roster.
i dont think gainey or julien are naive enough to continue going with him though if he doesnt at least defensively improve. theres too many prospects that can be used in his spot next year.
Facts:
#1: Dagenais is a player you can only use on one of your top two lines.
#2: Dagenais is useless to a team if he doesn't play on a top line.
#3: Dagenais is not good enough to be playing in the nhl on a top line.
Conclusion:
#1: Dagenais is not a player i'd like to have on one of my top two lines.
#2: Dagenais is not a player i like... i don't hate him but i think he's only good to fill roster spots we can't fill with other players... well until we find someone better... ala Kovalev... so now he should leave.... Ryder, Pearreault, Bulis, Zednik, Kovalev are better tools for our top lines as of now...
Well i like dagenias as a players, he does what he's paid to do : score a few odd goals... good for him... but i also get the impression he is a whiner, and like refused to report to the devils AHL team or something, so i don't like him
I hate Dagenais. He don't know how to skate.. every time he tries to accelarate I'm scared for him to fall down head first... He's best place is in the crowd.
Dagenais is a very limited player who can only fill one role on a team...scoring winger. For a player like him to flourish he needs a good player to feed him the puck and linemates who can make up for his defensive liabilities. He is a high maintanance winger for sure.
If he could score 30-40 goals a year the downsides would be easier to take, and there have been times this year he has looked like he might be able to do that. This imo, is why the coaching staff is sort of up in the air with him. He is right on the line of being useful and useless. Most players have a grey area between usefullness and uselessness, but not Dagenais. It's one or the other. Period.
I think the biggest question facing Julien is what to do with Dagenais in the playoffs. He could be the reason we win a game, scoring a timely goal, but he could also definately be a reason we lose a game.
As for do I like him or not????
Tough question. I have no real reason to hate him, but there have been times I though his role on the ice could of been better filled by someone else. Also, I have very rarely HATED a player that has worn the red, white and blue, so....
Never met him... oh sorry you mean do i like him as a hockey player.. oh i see... welll if he was allowed to come on o the Ice fro just 30 secs shoot then get off, sure why not. though as he hasn't really got an alround game.. no not really..
I've got no problem with a guy that can put the puck in the net. Give him half a chance and he'll bury it. Sure, it would be great if he was as good a team player as a Kilger was, but you have to admire the guy's abilities to score. Sure he can't skate, sure he can't pass, but boy can he shoot and at least he usually hits the net. He has scored some goals, and he has contributed to this team so I've got no problem with him at all.
The ONLY time I questioned Dagenais' attitude was on a goal he scored. When he scored it, Ryder reacted like a regular teammate and was very happy for him, but Dagenais didn't even bother to acknowledge Ryder and went right to Ribeiro.
In the end though, I look at it this way. He has bounced around for a couple of years now and he's finally getting his chance to shine. And at least he has a great shot. His attitude can get better, he just needs to feel part of the team. Right now I'm sure he feels like he's on the outside looking in.
Dags would not be my first choice for a top line winger, but he did help out for a while when he was on the line with Ribs.
The holes in his game are well documented, no point repeating.
That said, I do not believe that if Kilger or another Hab 2nd stringe r was in his spot, that they could have scored the goals he did. Most were from in close and where precision shots. The only two players that can consistantly score from in close, upstairs, is Ryder and Perreault. Ryder was playing with Koivu and Yannick is a bad match with Ribs, two easily physicaly dominated centers.
He has served a purpose, and now he waits on the shelf as insurance until someone else gets injured.
He is an interchangable part. Nothing more, nothing less.
As far as I know, he's done the job he's been asked to do so far. And he isn't paid to much either. Still, he managed to stay + in the +- category(not that he's good defensively but still). I would probably like him better if he would use his size more, but , he scores, so ... I kinda like him. But has soon as we get somebody like Perezhogin or Kostytsyn to fill in, ...
You know, to be honest with you, Dagenais has been producing goals all season long when in the lineup. The fact that he can't skate well, pass well, or even play very good defense does not show a great overall ability. But then again, look at Bure (By all means I am not saying he is the next Bure or even close to!), he was a pure offensive player and that's what everyone took him as. Nobody expected him to even come back into the defensive zone.
Maybe if we can get over the fact that all Dagenais can do is shoot and score, maybe we can all learn to like him a little more.
