Now that Tocchet has been confirmed, how do you guys think Downie is going to be used? Is he gonna be relied on to provide a bit more offense and a less more sand paper? Or is a third line agititor role still on the horizon?

What would be his point potential as for next season?

Thanks Bolts!

Eh, I don't see Downie being much more than a third line agitator. He's not going to put up a lot of points because he's going to be in the box a lot, and he probably won't have the kind of line mates to help him out in the point category. I loved him in his first season as a Flyer. He was all energy, and occasionally was a factor in the scoring department. But since his first season, he has regressed a bit IMO.

Hopefully he continues to grow chemistry with Stamkos.

It's all mental. He could be the next Darcy Tucker. He could be out of the NHL in three years.

I think the third line is a bit of a stretch for Downie.

He'll probably be on one of the bottom two lines and occasionally moved up to a scoring line. He played ok with Stamkos last year so I wouldn't be surprised to see him on Stammer's wing at times. He looked in line for another call up from the AHL where he was above a PPG until that questionable suspension that ended his season.
