Have you seen him play? Because one guy who has calls him a swedish Kyle Wellwood. So why in the sweet flying **** would we be interested in anything remotely like that?
A team with three 5'10 centermen, none of them elite point producers, has absolutely no chance. Why not get a 4th? Oh but yeah it doesn't hurt anything to acquire an asset... yeah we're movin' up in times alright.
So, we don't sign him.. Someone else does and he ends up the next Zetterberg. Then you start a thread about how Gainey misses out on signing good young players in Europe.
And it's 1 million with bonuses which doesn't count against the cap if he doesn't make the team. Chill.
Meh... What a slow time of the year... let's get to the draft please!
Indeed, I hope Gainey finally starts negotiating with our UFAs and signs Kovalev to a long-term deal with a NMC.
I agree with whomever said he'll probably be another Lathi, but it doesn't cost us one thing to sign him to a two-level entry deal and invite him to camp. Look at it this way: drafting him in the 7th round would have been more of an investment than signing him to his current contract, there's absolutely no reason to complain about it.
Well there's no official links from any of the Habs media outlets, but I checked with someone I know and he confirmed that he's been signed.

And if he ends up a steal - great! But this is a depth move, nothing more.
I would think this was a move for Hamilton, depth among the forwards unless he has a geat camp or we lose most of our UFA's as we could have a poor looking roster next year so some free depth sounds good.
