Huet has a horrible contract, isn't enough of an upgrade.
Foote is off the books after next season.

No.

Again, no. Tucker is gone after next season.

Why should we hamstring ourselves for the next 3 seasons with Huet's annual cap hit when he simply does not deserve it??

Thankfully Huet isn't the only goalie available this off-season.

well there is no one as good as huet on the open market this summer unless habby who will resign with the hawks which is the purpose of this trade

I'd much rather take a shot on Craig Anderson for a cheaper (and shorter) contract. Maybe Gustavsson, assuming he can live up to the hype and chooses Colorado.

Even if Huet could reproduce those numbers on a worse Colorado team, his price makes him anything but ideal.

Why do so many people try to use this as justification for ****** trade proposals with us? We need a goalie but we aren't going to clean up your mess.

Because they think a goalie is the only thing we need.

Is this the same guy who got chased today? Cristobal Huet is good for one softy a game. He is so overrated.

If the Avs wanted to pay Huet that much, they would have signed him as an UFA. Theres a reason they passed on Huet and Theodore, they aren't worth the money they're getting.

There are better and cheaper goalies who could be available this offseason

Avalanche are delusional if they don't do this.

Huet has a terrible contract, but is far from a terrible netminder.

He posted .920 save percentages while playing on teams that were awful defensively.

Call me delusional then. I admitedly don't know enough about Skille but taking on a contract like Huet's would be silly when they finally have some bad contracts (Tucker, Clark, Salei to name a few) coming off the books after next season. Huet isn't a terrible goaltender but he certainly does not justify paying him the 5.6 million dollar cap hit for the next three seasons for a team in complete rebuilding mode. Maybe I'm wrong but the potential value (Skille, 2nd round pick) does not make up for that terrible contract. Colorado needs to suffer through next season, and make the RIGHT moves when they have the cap flexibility to improve their team in the 2010 and 2011 offseaons. Taking on Huet's contract would be a move in the wrong direction.

I heard Chicago does have a real goalie who might become available. His name is Khabibulin.

Why give up assets for a mediocre/decent goalie who has never even strung together back to back 50 games played seasons? He's signed to a terrible contract for many years, rather just go after Khabi.

I would rather the Avs go with Budaj than trade for Huet. They simply have way more problems than goaltending and will be a bottom feeder for the next 2+ seasons. The upgrade from Budaj to Huet is like going from a pile of dog crap to a pile of dog crap sprayed with cologne. It may stink less but its still something you dont want.

I would hope the only way the Avs get Huet is re-entry waivers.

Chicago won't trade Huet if Khabibulin leaves or retires. Huet is a solid starter. 5.625 million for Huet is much, he might not play like Brodeur or Thomas who have similar contracts. But he's worth more the Adam Foote.

I am amused that the hawks tried to run habby out of town earlier in the year and now he is their go to girl.

If I was habby and his agent--I would look at the UFA market and see what is out there and go to a team that wants me and not just toss me n the trash.

Huet has one of the worst contract out there

how about Horcoff for Huet

there's an idea - two long overpriced contracts for each other (oilbear will now write a long response using obscure stats about how Horchoff is a top 5 center in the NHL)

I'll do Huet for Tucker if the Avs fail to get someone else.

Huet is a good goalie who's overpaid. Last game is fresh in everyone's mind, but he's really a solid goalie; 2nd highest SV% since the lockout (Vokoun is #1).
