Bolts-Jackets

2 TBL

Nikita Filatov

2 CBJ

Paul Ranger
Dana Tyrell
Bolts 3rd(optional)

---

The Jackets already have young forward stars like Voracek and Brassard and I am not sure Hitchcock will give Filatov a lot of ice time and Nikita may end up playing most of the season in the AHL again.
In comparison, in Tampa, he can be a full-time NHL player and I am thrilled to see him on the same line with Stamkos.

The Jackets get in return a proven NHLer Paul Ranger who is a solid young defenceman with a $1.1m contract next season plus a highly talenter prospect Dana Tyrell.

Tampa will 99% draft Hedman, so the loss of Ranger will not be really noticed.

Pass

No thanks, we are thin enough on defense right now.

This is my favorite part. Um, you do realize that David Koci, Noah Welch, and Richard Petiot were getting regular shifts in the second half of the year last year? They need Ranger, they need Hedman, they need to resign Murphy...all of the above.

Yeah Tampa's blueline is pathetic, they need all the help they can get.

They'll keep Ranger, and pray that he stays healthy this time around.

God no from a TB perspective. Vid I know you want Filatov but this is just horrible. I dont think I would do Ranger for Filatov straight up let alone add in one of our best offensive prospects and another pick.

Glad to see TB fans opposed to this, because, from a CBJ perspective, we're not doing it either.

Hitch will give Filatov ice time that he deserves. Presuming he makes the team, which he will do if he deserves.

scroll down to see the list of dmen

There's many possibilities for the Bolts to improve their D.

Ranger is injury prone. That's one thing. He's not a saviour for our blue line. 2+11 in 42 games. Wow. Finally, he probably holds the record of total number of own goals.

I really support the notion of "the best defense is offense". Imagine the two top units. Lecavalier with St.Louis and Stamkos with Filatov. Wow.

Krajicek, Smaby, Hedman, Murphy, Welch, Lashoff, possibly a couple of UFA D-men. We should do fine.

He absolutely deserved to be in the team this season. Still, he was playing in the AHL. Possibly only because they didnt want him to get more than 10 NHL games.

Debatable/disputable.

Howson has said he expects Nikita to make the team next season, for what that's worth. In any case, he's not going to trade him.

You realize the only reason they dressed were because of injuries?

Though, I will still agree with you, we do need Ranger and Hedman, Murphy is... not bad.

Mark my words. Filatov will not be in the AHL next season.

Just like Brassard and Voracek the organization is actually giving their players time to develop. That is a good thing.

Expect him to play a role similar to Voracek this past season and slowly work his way up the lineup as he gains the coaches trust.

You didn't say this but I want to point it out anyways b/c it pops up a lot in threads like this -- this myth going around that Hitch doesn't like young or inexperienced play is nonsense.

Russell
Boll
Dorsett
Mason
Brassard
Voracek
Murray
Methot

If you committ yourself to play the right way then you'll play. If not, you sit.

As far as the proposal.. no thanks. Howson isn't trading a blue chipper. We need more elite skill not less.

THIS!!!

(and that's why Brassard, Voracek, and Nash are not available, either)

Making TB give up probably their most consistent/best defender is just silly. And thinking that you're getting Filatov in return is even sillier.

Yes?

Im assuming that was to me saying no to Ranger fo Filatov straight up?

I think Filatov will be good but nothing great. I think Ranger is a top 3 dman when healthy. Hes still young dont forget.

It would be close but the main reason would be the fact that we are so thin on the blue line as it is.

Yeah real horrific. I wouldnt want to give up a proven commodity on a shallow blue line for an unproven winger who could be good but aside from his hattrick in his first game didnt really show anything in the few other games he was up.

For the TB organization I dont like the trade as the team sits right now.

Some people do not truly understand who Nikita Filatov is and how good he is. But that's all right, there's no hype around him.

Same way, some people do not notice how Paul Ranger is regressing. However, this could be because of the injuries. Or because our team just plain sucks right now. Just take a look at Meszaros.

I understand when Columbus fans say they dont want this trade, but fellow Bolts fans, come on, we can find a replacement for Ranger on UFA market, but a prospect like Filatov. No.

his average time on the ice was about 5 minutes. Still, he managed to score 4 goals and have a + rating playing alongside with a great playmaker, Mike Peca.

His AHL numbers are solid considering that he was the youngest player in the league and had to play with sponsor equipment for the significant part of the season.

He dominated every WJC and WJC U18 he participated.

His numbers in his Russian junior team(CSKA-2) were insane.

Find a weak spot.

What? I'm not going to bag on Filatov..he's just a prospect so none of us really have a clue how he is going to turn out. But sponsor equipment?
