Gameday: Wild @ Blue Jackets - 2004-03-24

The Wild start a short road-trip on Wednesday night in Columbus, and end it on Thursday night in Chicago. Since we can only lose or tie on the second night, I'm going to hope for a win on Wednesday. Although a loss wouldn't be a bad thing. Atlanta, Florida, and Carolina could pass us up if things work our way, draft-wise.
Lemaire had said Dupuis would be back in earlier in the week, but the last I read he said he'd decide later on about Pascal. So, maybe no Dupuis again. Roloson should get the start.

3-1 Wild?

(edit: Stupid midnight.. the game's on the 24th, not the 25th.)

I'll go with the ever popular 2-2 tie. Both goals will be scored by PM Bouchard with Gaborik getting one assist.

I've got to say 3-1 Wild. Jacques wasn't happy with lsat game and I think they'll be fully awake tonight. Nash and Zherdev will have a strong performance, but only one will get a point. The usual pushing and shoving between Nash and Gaborik will give the Jackets a PP and that will be their one goal of the game.

I think we should kidnap Zherdev on the way out of town. I like the way he skates. The Jackets don't need _both_ Nash and Zherdev, do they? Plus with the Penguins latest run, Columbus is looking to have a pretty good shot at the #1 pick this draft.
What's the CBA say about kidnapping? It's similar to the waiver rule, right? Just have to give the other team $5k for their trouble?

Yeah! He doesn't speak english, so we could just....call him up, tell him it's Alexander Ovechkin on the phone, tell him to meet us, and Zherdev will be whisked away to the Xcel Energy Center, where he will star on first line with Marian Gabor......I can dream can't I?!

Let's go Jackets! bang! bang! Let's go jackets! (or is it boom! boom!) It doesn't matter, just show up so we don't have to endure another OT loss. 5-1 Wild, will that get the jackets going? I sure hope so.

What leads you guys to think Bouchard will find his goalscoring touch tonight? From what I've seen, he's an excellent playmaker, but he steers clear of the heavy traffic areas he'd need to go to score. I could see an assist or two though.

I'm all for it. You get the potatoe sack and I'll get a club. I like his offensive talent. This kid has impressed me every time I've seen him play. Also, in an FHL, he scored 42 goals for my team in his 2nd year...

Gah. If I didn't know any better, I'd say we were trying to lose that one. Half the time it looked like we were skating on slush. Rarely did they try to beat anyone to a puck. And our power play. Good Lord. Take that out behind the shed and shoot it. We would've made a bantam team look stellar on the kill tonight. On the other hand, there were moments when the kids seemed to play fairly well. No great scoring chances, but decent puck movement and control.

What's up with the sucker punches? If you want to go with a guy, go with him. Don't sucker him when he's all tied up, or from behind. Cheap shots from players who don't need to do it at all. Shelley should obviously know the rules, and Nash is a freakin' baby if he can't handle a little stick on stick in the corners.

And Ceber, would you believe, I was just talking with some Wild fans who said that they had a BJ player in between periods and asked him about the sucker punch, and he said "Gaborik started it. He shoved me down" either behind the net or by it can't remember. Hilarious!!

Yeah, I started watching the game late, so I was fast-forwarding over the intermissions. I did see what the guy was talking about, though. Gabby gave him a little push right before a commercial break. Didn't shove him down, that's for sure. Didn't really have anything behind it (it's Gaborik, after all). So technically, Gaborik's little push started the scrum. I hope that guy wasn't trying to justify Shelley's sucker punch with that comment, though. I'm sure he wasn't. Nobody's that far out to lunch.
