Elias.

Arnott is too valuable to the team to trade for spare parts.

sure we'd give you elias if you gave us arnott + weber....arnott for elias isnt even close...lets get real arnott is aging you guys have colin wilson to replace him you get zubrus plus a 1st rounder which gives you an above average 3rd line center and another pick in a very deep draft

Sure we'd give you Weber and Arnott if you gave us Elias... and Parise.

...Why would we give away one of the best young D-men in the league for someone just as old as Arnott who has put up similar numbers in the last four years? Arnott + Weber for Elias = Us giving you Weber for free.

Honestly though, there isn't a deal NJ could do that would make us send away Arnott. NJ's elite players are out of Nashville's reach, and anyone else on the team isn't worth trading the Captain for.

Colin Wilson is not going to step in immediately and become our #1 center and captain while scoring 30 goals and having instant chemistry with our two best wingers. Trading Arnott is something the team simply cannot do unless we get an extremely good deal that makes us a better team NOW. Weber is outright untouchable.

Besides, if Arnott is getting old and making $4.5M in a year when the cap may go down, why would New Jersey want him?

we have around 15 mil in room currently so around 13 mil with the cap goin down....arnott to zubrus would only be a 1 mil cap increase for a better player

how bout

Zubrus
Bergfors
1st 2010

Arnott
3rd

i mean i know zubrus isnt value per se but if we were to give you a 1st next year plus a potential top 6 winger plus a very good 3rd line center/ mediocre 2nd line center (zubrus) for an aging center who still is very good in arnott i think the value would be about equal

Nothing around Zubrus would ever get you Arnott. Here's the main reasons why if we ever traded Arny it would have to be an overpayment.

1. He is the captain.

2. He is a much needed veteran player in a locker room full of young guys and non leaders.

3. Since Radulov left Arnott is the only pure goal scorer we have left on a team starving for Offense.

Is Zubrus, Bergfors and a first fair value for Arnott? Probaly sure. However you are looking at this way to much for a NJ point of view. This trade would make no sense unless we were completely rebuilding.
