Looking at the username, the proposal itself, and the fact that Marleau is already re-signed, something tells me that this is not a serious proposition/offer...

Andrei Kostitsyn is gonna score 35+ goals the moment he plays with a capable #1 center (which excludes Plekanec and Koivu). Sergei is developing into a nice two-way forward. While neither are power forwards, they're certainly not soft as a lot of people on HFboards make them to be. Both have to perfect their consistency, Sergei in particular, but they're certainly not the only young players having this problem nor is it something that can't be fixed.
Ryan McDonagh is a blue-chip prospect on the blueline. Good size, good skating, good hockey sense and some grit. He has what it takes to be a 1st pair defenseman, although top 4 is more conservative.
Patrick Marleau is a PPG player - in his good years anyways - who doesn't show up when he's needed the most.
I'd give Higgins, O'Byrne and a 2nd for Marleau. At the very most.

At the beginning of the season, people expected them and Carey Price to carry the team, despite their young age. I'm serious, it was thought Andrei would score like 40 goals (with Plekanec as center, HA!), Sergei to hit 60 points and Price to be a Vézina-caliber goalie carrying the team deep in the playoffs.
A couple of made-up rumors, an overblown "scandal" and an epic fail of a 2nd season later, they're scapegoats doomed to mediocrity for the rest of their career.

Perhaps calling him trash was exaggerating, I'll admit that. But he's certainly not worth all these young players for 1 year (I'm not even going in the conditional first).

How in hell did Tanguay get into this thread? Every time someone calls out a player, there is always some guy that will throw random names (in this case Tanguay) and put another player down... Yeah right, your father is stronger than mine...now what? Marleau won't get you the package the OP proposed. This is MASSIVE overpayment.

Good value for the Sharks for Marleau but he's not waiving his NTC to go to Montreal. It's probably a tad too much for Marleau from the Habs' perspective but it's amazing how undervalued he is around the league. Marleau shouldn't have been playing in the playoffs with the injury he had and he still was a fifth of the Sharks team offense.
I think if you knock out the 1st or McDonagh then you got a workable deal in terms of realistic value in a hypothetical trade that will never happen in reality.

The person I responded to called Marleau a choker, I am calling Tanguay a choker (except for one year he has been a playoff choker). The notion of playoff chokers came up, so I decided to name a player on the Canadiens who is known as a choker. So why don't you calm down and get your panties out of a bunch.
