2009 NHL Entry Draft - Who is attending?

Just curious to who will be attending the draft in Montreal this year - I made the voyage out to Ottawa from Toronto to see it last year, and it was an awesome experience - action packed with trades, and great to see Schenn being drafted. Also got to meet a few fellow HFBoarders, and had a beer with them.

I'll be making the voyage again this year, just in the process of waiting for confirmation that tickets will be available.

Anyone else planning on being there?

I'd like to go to one at one point, hopefully one will come to Philadelphia, or maybe Washington or NJ.

I'll be there. Last year was my first, and it was awesome.

I went last year and had a ball.
I'm considering going this year. I'm going to be in ottawa, but have an appartment in Montreal beckoning me. If i do go, it will probably be a draft-day decision and i will have to pick up a pass outside the arena, so i would love to hear from MTL fans about how attendance is expected to work (in ottawa season ticket holders got free passes).

ps - abdelkader just scored an awesome goal.

Won't the tickets be like $500?

I attended the 2002 NHL Entry draft in Toronto, at the ACC. I called them up and asked for 10 tickets to the draft. Free. It came in the mail a week later.

They might charge nowadays, maybe $20.

This is just me speculating totally, but they might -might- charge as there will be a ton of habs fans wanting to go not too mention people from Ottawa and other cities near by.

dude, i got game 4 tickets at the bell center this year for 30 bucks a seat. No way draft tickets will be that expensive at all. If season ticket holders get free admission, i'd imagine they will be going for around 10 bucks a pop at the door (aka from scalpers).

I went last year as well. Great experience.

I expect it to be harder to get general admission tickets this year. And you have to remember that those tickets don't even guarantee you a seat.

Last year it was free - they usually have a mailing program where you send them an addressed, prepaid envelope and they sent you tickets.

I could definately see Montreal charging though - it will be a big deal for them, so it's not without possibility.

The scalping sites are selling them now - likely the seats they issue to season ticket holders in the lower bowl. I was lucky to have those as my bro has Sens season tickets in Ottawa.

Anything over 10$ for a ticket to a draft is a pure ripoff, and thats just 1st round. 2nd day should be no problem.

I for one will be watching at home with no pants on.

+ a box of tissues either way, crying if we draft Cowen or MPS, ****ing if we draft Duchene or Schenn.

Not sure if i'm going to go to Mtl or not. I had a blast in Ottawa last year but I may just watch it on TV this year

Highlight from last year was seeing BMurr on the phone during the 12th/13th pick and then all of a sudden a huge flurry of activity as they finalized the trade.

Yeah, I remember when I got into the arena I saw Gainey and Sutter talking for a good half hour. I'm assuming they were talking about and finalizing the Tanguay deal.

It could be sold out too. Someone could spread a rumor that national anthems will be played after each pick. You just know that will attract the boo birds.

I'm just waiting for the drunk, stupid fans in attendance to boo the hell out of Montreal's pick if he's not from Quebec.

Just like they did with David Wilkie in 1992. I'm not saying everyone in attendance will be that stupid, but you know it's going to happen.

My buddy's little brother is most likely getting drafted by New Jersey or Colorado the second day so we are all rolling out in force. We are making the trip to Montreal then heading to Toronto to hit up the HHOF then off to Vegas should be a fun week.

I suggest you have a friend who stays home and is watching the TV.

Thank god at the Ottawa, the people sitting behind us had a buddy calling in any rumour/breaking trades.

My buddies and I sat somehwat near the TSN desk and we were always watching them to see if they all go to the blackberries at the same time and guessing trades.

I've been looking for tickets online, and can't even find information on how to get any.
