Hrkac's successful comeback to the AHL

A feel-good story about a former Thrasher. Hrkac was always a nice guy.

(AP) Forty-two years old and retired, former University of North Dakota hockey standout Tony Hrkac laughed it off when Houston Aeros assistant coach Luke Strand expressed interest in his services last summer.

It was no joke.

It took some time, but Houston, the top minor league affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, in mid-March lured [him] out of retirement...

Despite being older than the general manager who signed him and the assistant coach who recruited him, and twice the age of some teammates in Houston, Hrkac excelled, leading the Aeros to the Western Conference Finals in the American Hockey League playoffs.

Well done Hrkac. Been a fan of his since his stint with the Stars and was glad to see him in ATL when I moved here.
