The Sharks, as a team, were garbage in the playoffs. It wasnt Nabby's fault.

How did he look when he won gold for Russia during the 2008 WCs?

Nabokov # 1

Undecided between Bryzgalov or Khabibulin as backup. Age factor probably gives Bryzgalov the edge though.

What does the playoffs have to do with anything?

Nabby is consistently a top 5 goalie in the NHL. He may be a tad bit overrated but he is still a great goalie. He also won Russia their gold in the WC and he shut out Canada when they played in the quarters of the olympics.

the concept of highly overrating or underrating [or even rating] ice hockey players can be pointed out as being extremely overrated in itself ...

evgeni nabokov is very solid and that is was team russia needs at the back end at the olympics

Nabokov no question. He is the best russian goalie out there and he won the gold medal in canada.

Yup. A big reason why SJ struggles in the playoffs. Bryzgalov should be their man.

i think khabby should get the opportunity, but it'll likely be nabby's spot to lose after '08.....

Probably Nabokov based on current level of play.

Not sure why Simeon Varlamov is on the list, he's just a kid and still developing.

Nabby's hips aren't 100% right? If you're a goalie that hurt your hips, and you have an opportunity to let them heal, you do it. Playing with hip injuries in net sucks pretty bad, and makes you suck badly.

Bryz is no slouch either.
