So long - Cameron, Rowat, Fillier and Kidd

http://www.insidesocal.com/kings/200...e-to-four.html

Quote:
I had a couple questions about this over the weekend, so I got an answer from Dean Lombardi. If you're maintaining a list of Kings prospects, you can now scratch off the following four names: Bryan Cameron, Matt Fillier, Josh Kidd and Linden Rowat. They have not been re-signed by the Kings and will be eligible either to be drafted again this month, or for free agency.

Cameron's an interesting case. We picked him fairly early, he improved his stats each year in the OHL, and then doesn't get an offer. I wonder what they wanted or expected of him that he failed to deliver. Or maybe it's mostly a 50-contract thing?

I watched the OHL closely this year and Cameron was something special. He's a good player. I don't know why the Kings would not sign him!!! He was also named to the all-star team and put up great numbers. So don't know whats up Deans A@@, notch that as another bone head move by Dean!

Dean needs the money to resign Zeiler and Ivansas to long term contracts.

LOL, sure you did. He did good but so do most overaged jr. players. DL can't sign every Corey Locke/Justin Azevedo in the world.

Yup, considering I"m from Windsor, Ontario...and the O in OHL stands for Ontario and Windsor are the OHL champs and the fact that the all-star this game was in Windsor...Considering I get free tickets to see the Spits all the time and the fact that LA's season was over early so I needed more entertaining hockey to watch. Also the fact that Belleville also went far in the playoffs allowed me to see Cameron more often!....but yah LOL!

I heard Dean disliked Cameron's choice of ink. Kid never had a chance...

From Cameron's profile on kings.nhl.com:

Quote:
favorites include: “high glove side, bar and in” (shootout move), Anaheim Ducks (NHL team), Rick Nash (NHL player), King of Queens (TV show), Slap Shot (movie), Will Ferrell (actor), Nickelback (group) and NHL 2007 (video game).
Good riddance to bad rubbish!

Who needs them? We have Dwight King... But seriously... We know nothing of the situation. Let's wait for the people who actually know what they are talking about to say something before we go ahead and 'chalk up another failure for Dean.'

Ok, so you saw a 20 year old dominate a bunch of younger kids. He's still nothing special like the rest of the Darren Haydar's of the world.

Right. Azevedo put up better numbers, was smaller, and he still was only a 5th rounder.

Cameron, like some other players who tear up the major junior, just didn't seem to have what it took to excel at the next level.

But please, let's chalk this up as another bonehead mistake without contextualizing Cameron's stats and style of play and assume Lombardi doesn't know what he's doing. It's so much easier to bash him that way.

Little bit surprised about Rowat. Last I heard, everyone in the organization was pretty high on him. Can anyone offer an explanation? Provided it wasn't a drop-off in play, the first thing that comes to my mind is that there's too much depth at goalie and DL and co. like Jones a little bit better.

too many goalies in the system, and he was most likely at the bottom of the list with Bernier, Zatkoff, Taylor, Jones.....Cameron wasn't going to be anything special anytime soon, i liked Kidd's game though.

I'm pretty sure that Taylor's ELC expires on July 1st, so I don't think you need to worry.

Is this like those inside sources you had that said Lombardi lowballed JJ and thats the reason for the KHL stuff only to be proven an idiot and it made public that a contract offer hasn't even been put forth? Lost any credibility you had with that one.

I count 34, and then we've got the 11 RFAs and 4 UFAs. Of the RFAs, Johnson, Boyle, Purcell, Westgarth and Elkins are probably locks. So 34 right now, no less than 39 after we start qualifying guys, and maybe more like 42 or 43 depending whether guys like Parse, Dravecky, and Derek Armstrong are retained for another year.

EDIT: Original numbers were 2 too high, now corrected.
